Topic: Nursery Cryme VS Godbluff Posted: May 03 2012 at 17:10 |
I love Nursery Cryme, but out all the Genesis albums from that era, that one sounds a tad dated to me now - I still love it though. Godbluff is just a classic. Super consistent and the atmosphere, melodies and emotion on that record are remarkable. Still life has always been my favourite, but after listening to it last night for the first time in a while, I'd say Godbluff takes it.

Nursery Cryme. I like Godbluff, but not that much. Pawn Hearts and H to the He are much better than the prior albums though.

Every Gabriel/Hackett-era Genesis album is a monumental masterpiece, but Nursery Cryme I consider as a much weaker record than the following three albums. So my vote goes to Godbluff.

I vote "Godbluff" ... the last great VdGG album, in my honest opinion.

Godbluff. It feels very complete and more well-flowing, no weak spots!

GODBLUFF.
I prefer Genesis over VDGG, but Godbluff is their best album (and Pawn Hearts), while Nursery is not between my favorite Genesis albums (although I like it, I prefer SEBTP, Foxtrot, ATTOTT, etc,) |

Godbluff is a "musical" mess to my ears. Besides, I'm not that much of a lyrical guy.
Voted NC.

So you see Hammill is by far not the inventor of this kind of singing.

Cool story...
but I never said he was, nor did moshkito. |
Well I think she is mentioning this because so many feel Hammill did create this type of singing. Which by the way can get extremely boring hearing that album after album, kinda like my english professor in college...
I like VdGG very much, mainly for the musical aspect which is brilliant!
But by far Genesis is much more brilliant than VdGG......I don't listen to Godbluff nearly as much as I listen to H to He and Pawn Hearts.
Nursery Cryme by a country mile.

"Godbluff" by a country mile. " Nursery Cryme" is not one of my preferred Genesis albums.

Musical box is the most overrated prog song of all time. There were 100s of better songs back then
