I don't even agree with this.  We get many albums prior to their release date specifically for the purpose of reviewing them.

Of course, even when I normally wait until the album is released, I admit some reviews should be accepted.............But EXCLUSIVELY  with a mention of how you got the album LEGALLY, and in no way a rating without review should be admitted before the album is released.

If somebody is found lying, not only the review should be deleted, but the member suspended.

Abuse could be greatly curtailed by making pre-release reviews a collaborator only privilege.

Never said collaborator only....Any member who can justify how he/she got the album would be OK.

Pop-ups should be forbidden by law. Their an utter nuisance and serve no purpose at all. Away with them!
Besides, they never stopped anybody from doing what they intended to do. The 5 star rating overkill on PA proves it.

Due to the devaluation of 5 stars and the abscence of half-stars on PA, I would like this option very much.
And as you suggested, only available for reviews and only in relation to your total number of reviews.
One out of 30 reviews (or 3,33% of total reviews) sounds cool !

And oh, I am a web developer, but luckily not here so I have no guilt supporting such an elaborate change proposal Big smile

I still believe that 0.5 stars would help a lot.

We don't even need to change the existing reviews unless you want to do so.

That's not the point. The point is the site has a pop up. The pop up mentions 5 star and 1 star ratings, but doesn't display for 1 star ratings. Either remove the text from the pop up or add the pop up to the one star. I didn't start this thread to debate the relative merits of a pop up vs. no pop up format.

Also, the 5 star 'overkill' shows no such thing. As I seem to have to keep saying, you would expect that people review 5 star albums more frequently than any other star rating so it seems plausible to have a high degree of those, especially from people with a limited number of reviews.

^ you got me there, I admit never read that message, I never read pop-ups with just an "ok" button, it's my developper background probably Embarrassed
I certainly didn't know it said anything about 1 star albums as well.

As to the 5 star overkill, I disagree, there are too many of them and it bothers me, especially in case of fan-boyism and tactical votes.
But agreed, it's usually ok with the reviews/reviewers that I find relevant.

Interesting.... not much you can do about those repeated 5 star rating offenders - hopefully they dont make too much of a difference to the overall rating.

That's not against the rules, as far as I know, and there's no way for us to guard against overdoing fanboy behavior without also unfairly penalizing people who are being honest and genuine. But you shouldn't let it bother you: a rating only is almost worthless in the final average.

I agree there should be a dialogue for 1 star, although people are generally more delicate with one star than they are for five.

This really is lazy ratings of CDs. 1 or 5 star..... no imagination utilsed and useless ratings.
