The only player I ever liked on the team was L.T. and he's gone now. So I'm very glad to see them fail. I dislike West Coast teams in general really.
Certainly enjoying the Cowboys right now. Hopefully a loss for them nextweek just to seal the coffin.

L.T. and also I actually liked Michael Turner (not sure why) who is also gone.
Even if by some chance they beat the Giants (which would be unacceptable) it don't matter. If they don't seal their coffin now, it'll just be done later and more painfully. By now, the only way I will EVER think otherwise is if they win a SB. I still think it starts with Jerry Jones

I love how pitiful their 2009 draft class is.

I honestly don't even know who they are But being the Cowboys I can only imagine the failure. Also damn the Jaguars are bad! Cool to see another Rutgers player making it in the NFL though

What do you guys think about the NFL's new rule about hard hits?
Just curious.

Al Davis is still there. That's the Raiders major problem, in fact.

Stupid and disingenuous.
Most of this vicious hits occur in the middle of the field or on blown plays in the flat. There's a reason that traditionally qbs didn't throw to the middle of the fields: they didn't want their receivers getting knocked out. The big hits coming in the flat are a result of a failure to recognize coverage by the qb. It's one thing to fine people for head-hunting, but incidental contact is going to occur. When you're flying at a receiver to make a play, there isn't exactly a lot of time to react and ensure you hit him in a nice clean area. Many times it's the receiver himself who is at fault.
Roger Goodell claims to be about player safety, but has made it his crusade to usher in an 18 game season to fatten the purse with NFL's skyrocketing ratings. He's such a fraud.

I thought the man was dead!!! He was in his 60's (r at least looked like it) when the Raiders won their 3 superbowls... he was a rebel against the general yessir of the other owners...
he must be in his late 80's now...
How is he the Raider's problem ???? (I haven't really followed NFL politics in over 20 years)
Sounds like the NHL's Toronto's Maple Leafs situation with Harold Ballard in the 80's and 90's... but the TML haven't farted much better since he's gone.

I like it. BEFORE "Ah cmon wuss football is violent and they know what they are getting into" I agree, and think a lot of the rules, esp on QBs are too much for example. But helmet to helmet is a different level of dangerous, especially when these people act like human missiles. I mean you hit someone chances are it may happen, but then you lower the head and go flying in towards theres....well IMHO thats beyond the danger of the game and taking it too far. Someone on ESPN had a good point about the new passing league were in has more people being out in space, and defenders are missiles now instead of just trying to tackle. A 240 lb LB running full speed at a 190 lb unprotected WR and going helmet to helmet just seems too much. Even dirty ol Rodney Harrison has about change being needed

I think it goes overboard. It's a violent game, the players know that, and it is one of the things they are so greatly compensated for.

Harrison of the Steelers was particularly blatant I thought.
Also Pat is right, Goodell is a hypocrite. I liked him for the crackdown on players but I think he proved to be a bit inconsistent especially when Bellichek wasn't suspended. And yeah, how are players gunna make it through an 18 game schedule now? It is kinda whacked.

A-Rod all the way!
And this is finally it. Brett has made one comeback too many. Imagine if his epic playing streak was ended because he got suspended? (And over these allegations)
Talk about not aging gracefully

^ I predict the Vikings beating the Packers, by less than 7 points...we'll see how that goes.
How about those Rams huh?? (My fave team)
Beating the Chargers, wow...that was a nice surprise

Did you hear his quote. It was hilarious, but also kinda scary at the same time. The guy didn't major in biology I'm guessing.
Harrison wrote:
"You hate to see anyone down like that, but then you realize he just
went to sleep for a little bit and he came out of it and he's going to
be OK. That's football," Harrison said, shrugging.

I won't say I haven't,but it wasn't intentional.
I think the Merriweather hit on Todd Heap and Harris' two last Sunday were blatant and uncalled for.

Exactly Jody.
I know this will lead to problems because it's a judgment call (but that happens already anyway) but the penalties should be for blatant hits. If you tackle someone, especially if shoulders meet up, helmets will hit.
Someone running at the ball carrier like a missile, like what Harrison was doing, needs to be penalized. Let's see if the NFL is serious. He's right that suspensions are the only true way to stop it, at least stick to your guns and do it.
