I think they tend to play to the level of their opponent. Also I'm all for run game but they are TOO conservative. You can milk the clock with safe/short passes instead of always going 3 and out.

But defense played very well again and they seem to be running the ball better, especially Jacobs. Eli was efficient.
Special Teams are still killing though. Such terrible coverage, random bad punts, and the Punter dropped the ball again....this time twice on the same play!?!?

Also, Suh IS a beast. If we wasn't drawing tons of attention to himself he was getting pressure up the middle every play.
The officials won that game for the Giants.  I've heard it said that a penalty could be called on every play and when the penalty margin is 11 to 2 you know there is something wrong.  Two huges calls.  The Lions get called for an illegal formation and a 30 yard gain gets called back.  Instead of 1st and goal they have 3rd and 12 at the 40-yard line and on the next play Stanton fumbles the ball and the Giants are in great field position.  The TV commentators were unable to explain the illegal formation.

The Lions stop the Giants on 3rd and goal from the 3 and they call unsportsmanlike conduct on the Lions.  It takes two to tango.  The Giants offensive lineman had a fistful of jersey and wouldn't let go after the whistle.  The Lions defensive lineman gets pissed and shoves him away.  Where is the holding?  Where is the unsportsmanlike conduct on the Giants offensive lineman.  Of course the Giants are given a first down at the 1 1/2 yard line and 3 plays later they finally score a touchdown.

The worse call though, came on a legitimate penalty but the officials didn't throw a flag until the Giants started complaining to the ref.  After the Giants started complaining the ref decided to throw the flag.  I don't disagree that it should have been a penalty but the refs can't be making the call because the Giants complain that it should be called.

That being said the Lions made some really stupid penalties, turned the ball over way too many times, and couldn't catch a pass at an appropriate moment to save their souls.  And their running game is virtually nonexistent.

He stopped using roids.

Yeah I gotta be honest Scott, and I mean no offense by this but your Lions are the only ones that cost themselves that game.
Penalties (or bad ones all that) are part of every game. I also saw pass interference on the Lions that weren't called. This sh*t happens. Bad calls, non calls, potential bias. It happens every game if you watch em, and I'm pretty sure every team thinks they are biased against (even the Pats though they have the opposite!)

Also the Giants play very conservative when ahead, if the Lions made more of a challenge I think the Giants would've responded. When they do go vertical its effective.
The fact you were on a 3rd string QB also didn't help the Lions cause...
Sorry you suffered another close loss, and the team is improving but what I saw was not a very impressive effort and the G men are like the Steelers. They keep these things close as possible, much to the hearts of their fans....

Har Har
Because I'm sure he was the only NFL player...
Also the moment you stop you go to sh*t of course...not like players use em in conjunction with their training. Besides dude was good, he was a 272 lb Linebacker after all.

He hasn't even been playing though. He hurt? Team sick of him complaining how they wanna cut him? Their D can only be better with him in there. I just am confused as to why he's not

The Lions shot themselves in the feet way too many times no doubt, but the officiating was still for crap.  The reality is though that the Giants should be able to beat the Lions by a 44-6 score like the Lions beat the Rams the previous week.

That's what I'm saying man! They never let games get more out of hand then they need to.

Against the Texans they were rollin.
Lions...barely eeked it out.
They could've easily destroyed the Bears but they instead they ran uber conservatively and kept em in all game.

Its part of the reason they bug me, I wish they'd open up more and not win all these games with heart stoppers.
Exception being when they play the Raiders or a team SO woefully bad they put up 40 even when not tryingLOL

Speaking of Steelers being themselves

We remember the Hines Ward rule put in, to which he responded "I dont care, penalize me if you want I'll still do it"

And now the NFL talks of restricting helmet to helmet contact
To which James Harrison says: Yeah Im gunna do it anyway, I don't care.

Old school, stubborn team indeed Tongue

^ Kudos to them........the NFL is a pansy game now, you can't hit anyone and every play is a flag or reviewed.
I think MLB games a shorter than NFL games now...

Its a fine line, I am for safety BUT it is going overboard. Especially these QB rules that are getting out of hand, even more so if you're name is Brady.

Somethings like horsecollar tackles, the illegal blocks, and helmet hits are legit safety concerns IMO

Apparently the Lions' player who got hurt yesterday will be OK.  He has movement in all 4 arms and legs and was apparently tweeting after the game that he was OK.  Unfortunately, the day before on the same field that kid from Rutgers was paralyzed in a game.

That is good news. That was a truly horrifying moment....

And I heard about the kid from Rutgers as well. Last I heard there was no news but "it did not look good"

I know football is dangerous and the players know what they're getting into...but I dont have a problem with a crackdown on helmet to helmet hits. Remember the Bills player that they were not sure if he'd make it through the night? Those helmet hits are a different level of dangerous.

The Lions players were saying that the league really needs to make the Wedge illegal on kickoff returns.  I assume that is what the Lion player got hurt on.  I didn't see that part of the game.

Actually the wedge was made illegal for this season. You can only have a wedge of 2 people now.
I only know because in the Jets game there was a penalty for using a 3 man wedge.

That Lions player was hurt on a helmet to helmet hit by Jason Pierre-Paul

He was good because he  was chugging down PEDs. He didn't go to sh*t when he stopped, but he did go to mediocre. Combine that with injury and aging and that's the reason the Chargers have abandoned him.

Add onto it horrendous special teams play, turnovers, big yardage but inability to score the Chargers are falling apart amazingly.

I'm cool with it. Neutral on the team but Rivers annoys me so damn much, I can't help but dislike them.

Norv Turner can't coach. I have no idea how he got a job.

Like I said, I don't care about the team at all but Rivers pisses me off so much!

It's OK at least I can always relax by laughing at the Cowboys. I don't even know where to start, I'll just lol at them in general.
