I just wanted to say that i created a wikipedia page for the website!
I noticed that on a few prog albums on wikipedia Progarchives was listed as a review for the album (such as an Allmusic review) and there was no page for it, so I took initiative. It is still young and very unfinished, so all edits would be appreciated.

I remember there was a page for PA a few years back but the editors of Wikipedia deleted it ("vanity article" or something like that).

Hopefully it lasts!
I think people have tried before and it got deleted fairly quickly, due to Wiki's elitism LOL

I took a look at Wikipedia's list of online databases. Apparently Adult Film Database, Amiga Games Database and Indian Railways Fan Club (!) are more essential than Progarchives.

I never had an Amiga. I went straight from Commodore 64 to 386.

Could be that Wiki's a music critic. Maybe they got burned on a Phil Collins CD purchase? LOL

I think if you guys at least make the page worthwhile and longer than 1 paragraph it might stay up...otherwise, no chance

To be fair, though, attempting to record every single adult film and actor is a much more sisyphean task than PA.

I don't believe PA should have a wikipedia page, and that they let some other stupid things in doesn't change that. I still attempted to add a space to the title of the article because it annoys me, but I was unsuccessful.

This article may meet Wikipedia’s criteria for speedy deletion as an article about a web site, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject. See CSD A7.

Yup.
Not just deletion but speedy deletion.
PA is doomed

I'm fighting it. I'm adding little things, such as the uses for the site, the fact that its in the MAC network, etc.
What i REALLY need to know is who the owners, authors or admins are, so I can out that in the info box. That way wikipedia knows that progarchives is actually owned by someone, and will shut up to some degree

PA has one of the best music knowledge databases on the net

It is endorsed by many of the greatest artists ever to grace this planet

It aims to get the biggest interview database of any music website

It is being stored in a nuclear bomb proof facility

It has several thousand genuine users, including several universities and scientific research facilities
