Re: zeuhl, I always assumed the German pronunciation rules would apply (so it rhymes with "boil", "coil", "foil", "soil", "toil" etc.), but I've heard it pronounced zool ("ooo" instead of "oi") in some Magma performances. I mean, despite the obvious Germanic origins of the Kobaian language, Magma is still a French band. Search me Confused

I do the same with Neil Peart. I know it's Pyert but I prefer Pert. Everyone I know does the same...

I think the correct pronunciation is somewhere between 'zurl' and 'zoil', - there's a rather tricky diphthong in the middle - but I agree that in liver performance it tends to come out more like 'zool'.

I've always pronounced it pee-ert (we really need the IPA for this thread).

English can't pronounce this word. Only French, German and Turkish people can do it.

In my mind I also say "zool" even though it's wrong, I also say "Universe Zero" and "Present" in English instead of pronouncing them correctly.  And I don't even give an F

See, this is where you and I differ.

Being the conceited guy I am, I always say them in the French way.  It confuses people and that's always good. Big smile

You see, this is why a pronunciation thread would be a good idea. LOL

Me too.

Me too as well.

I say "zay-ool" myself.  I also say MDK "Mechanic Destructee Commando" and Kohntarkosz "Contarkoes."  I don't know if that's pronounced correctly either.
