Which drummer do you prefer? Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater or Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree?
And remember, it's for which DRUMMING do you prefer. So no "LULZ GAVVINN IZ BETTAR CUZ PORTNOI R TEH GROWLZZZ!!!" |

I doubt there are any Gavin parts Portnoy couldn't play with 5 minutes of practicing. Maybe it works the other way, too. I predict Gavin winning because PT is "less w**ky" or "more tasteful," or however you want to spin in. Both drummers are really good.

While I like Portnoy, I think Harrison is much better.

I enjoy both drummers very much... but I'll have to go with Gavin because of his jazzy tendencies and his overall style.

I prefer Gavin's style over Portnoy's, though obviously Portnoy is also an excellent drummer.

Gavin Harrison has unparalleled groove and feel in the world of modern prog rock.
Mike can play any technical thing that is handed him...but I enjoy Gavin more, and that's what counts.

Seconded. I will actually pass on voting for the two options presented though, both are amazing drummers, but each does their own thing and don't really compare well against each other. |

I honestly thought this would be closer. My pick is Portnoy without question. I thought it'd be a more interesting poll than this.
