Do you prefer Porcupine Tree's "Time Flies" (The Incident) or the original, Pink Floyd's "Dogs" from Animals?

Dogs is an incredible piece of original music. time Flies is an incredible piece of not-so-original music. Went with Pink Floyd Smile

I refuse to vote because this poll perpetuates the myth that these two songs share any similarity besides strummed 16th notes.

I have to agree. There are so many other instances where PT is blatantly "inspired" by PF, I don't know why people latch on to this tenous one.

Time Flies by PT is a good song, but Dogs by the Floyd is a great song!  Although I listen to PT alot more than the Floyd.

Me neither, but since I prefer Pink Floyd I voted anyway.

Steve Wison is a huge Pink Floyd fan and Animals was his first love - the album that really cemented his love of progressive rock.  As such Time Flies is SW paying homage to Animals, both Sheep and Dogs as a matter of fact.  It is his favourite album and seems very autobiographical.  For me, it's the best of part of a simply sensational album, the best PT have released in an awful long time.  Whist it's highly influenced by the Floyd classics, I don't see it as a rip-off as some do, more as a tribute and a reflection of his own  progressive rock initiation and development.

Interestingly, the lyrics (which are typically excellent) are very Floyd-like too.  I'm thinking Time from DSOTM.  Very nostalgic and melancholy.   Anyone agree?

Animals has always been my favourite Floyd album too.  Much as I love Time Flies, it has to be Dogs.

Porcupine Tree is yust a bad Pink Floyd / Radiohead clone, dont understand what so special about em? i dont think they are any prog at all, they dont do anything new or intresting, i got 3 albums by em and they bore me to death. Steven Wilson yust sound whiny and anoying. If thats the leading and biggest prog band right now, there cant be much of a future for prog....

Well said and I couldn't agree more.
For me Time Flies is a welcome return to PT's earlier PF influences. Porcupine Tree haven't sounded like PF for a long time now. Not that I want them to.
I rarely listen to PF anymore but when I do it is either Meddle or Animals - my two favourites.
It  would be near on impossible to vote for anything other than Dogs. Despite me singing the opening line to Time Flies almost constantly !LOL

Times Flies is one of the worst songs on The Incident.

I've no idea why anybody would call it "epic".
And lo, the mighty riffage was played and it was good
