Pink Floyd vs. Porcupine Tree - Progressive Rock Music Forum

Do you prefer Porcupine Tree's "Time Flies" (The Incident) or the original, Pink Floyd's "Dogs" from Animals?

Dogs is an incredible piece of original music. time Flies is an incredible piece of not-so-original music. Went with Pink Floyd

I loved Time Flies the first time i heard it, so Dogs it is.

I have to agree. There are so many other instances where PT is blatantly "inspired" by PF, I don't know why people latch on to this tenous one.

Me neither, but since I prefer Pink Floyd I voted anyway.

I haven't heard the Porcupine Tree track. I can say I like Pink Floyd more then Porcupine Tree. I didn't vote.

I thought Steven Wilson's fav Pink Floyd album was The Final Cut.

Animals has always been my favourite Floyd album too. Much as I love Time Flies, it has to be Dogs.

Well said and I couldn't agree more.

For me Time Flies is a welcome return to PT's earlier PF influences. Porcupine Tree haven't sounded like PF for a long time now. Not that I want them to.

I rarely listen to PF anymore but when I do it is either Meddle or Animals - my two favourites.

It would be near on impossible to vote for anything other than Dogs. Despite me singing the opening line to Time Flies almost constantly !
