Hi, all - - new here, I'm Paul from New Zealand, mostly 
into Symphony/Neo prog but appreciating most of the other
sub genres as well. I introduced myself earlier this 
morning on the newbie thread, and mentioned I like to host
a prog onlinle radio show every week.

Thought this might interest a few of you. The online radio
show I'm doing tomorrow night at 9 PM EST (New York time)
is all about the Wah wah pedal and its contribution to 
prog and rock. I've collected a number of songs featuring
the wah and I'll be playing them online for 2 and a bit 
hours. I just love stories about instruments and effects 
used in prog - mellotron, e-bow, etc. This is more a 
salute rather than an exposition.

What I've also done is start a small competition for 

bragging rights when it comes down to knowing your wah 
from your wah. I put these questions together to see how 
many proggers can guess the songs they're associated with.
I didn't want to make it too easy, so they're a little
cryptic. Maybe too cryptic, but you're welcome to work
them out.

1 # A Liverpudlian wrote this song after getting a headache arguing with his
    friend in the band he was in at the time.

2 # What you get when you cross a dairy product with a heroic character
    written about by Homer (not the du*oh! one) and Virgil.

3 # Mick Box giving his wah a thorough magical workout on this long track.

4 # Led Zeppelin – need I say more? I'm sure you know the "one".

5 # Tony Iommi – don’t go all paranoid on me if you don’t get it right.

6 # Yes – Maybe it's a fish on a bicycle pedal? But really, it's 
          an anthropomorphism for the life and death of a bird,
          lyrically speaking.... at the end following sweetness. 

7 # Miles Davis – wah wah phrasing on a corner.

8 # Buster does guard duty on a Dylan number.

9 # A bird with flatulence in search of…?

10 # Porcupine Tree – doing it for real this time.

I did offer a prize of sorts that who ever got the most
correct answers and if tied there would be a draw, would
have the chance of putting some of their favourite tunes
(as long as they didn't have offensive language or subject
matter)together in whatever order they like and with 
dedications, and they would be played in a two hour  
special show next week on the station. And you're welcome
to join in on that as well. I'm closing off the 
competition later tonight (midnight - New York time).
