One thing though, I tend to credit Igor (Prog-Jester). Much of the post-rock I've listened is of the same school. Half of the bands don't have their own signature, even more can't create a properly beautiful, par-coherent too, album.

 Tortoise actually brightenes up things, with its different, experimental language, now that I'm finally listening to it.
