Ah, this band has potentially one of the worst names ever.
Yet musically I love them so far.
You Fantastic!

For what?
Seriously, it sounds nothing like Spock's Beard. I sense hardly any similarities between the vocal styles and sounds between Robert and Morse, for one.
For two, the music and the production are entirely different. The production for SB has a much more smooth, typical neo/symph prog modern sound, whereas STW's production is more raw (comparatively).
I can't think of one SB song that even is remotely structured similarly to any song on STW either.

if by smooth you mean professional and by raw you mean home-grown.
They both have long typically progressive songs are are synth/guitar oriented and are religiously based. Sb has a more professional sound while STW sounds like SB's demo tapes.
my opinion.
| I've defended myself on the "production" issue before, and I like how it sounds as it is. I once used Lifehouse as an example: Their first album in my opinion is heartfelt, down-to-earth- organic-sounding acoustic-based rock music. It had something what you might call a soul. It was rough around the edges and had other such flaws. In any event, Lifehouse had their own sound, and I loved it. Three albums later with much more success, they now sound like every other rock band out there- generic and hard to distinguish. But certainly "professional."
So I guess I like being home-grown, if that's how you want to put it. I honestly dislike the shiny, overdone production of bands like, say, The Flower Kings.
As far as your last line goes, I'll just say this:
1. Long progressive songs 2. Guitar / synth-oriented
That's like every other symphonic rock band in existence, man. You could have just as easily said I sounded like Yes or Genesis with that criteria.
3. Religiously-based
Other than Snow (and only then, maybe), when was Spock's Beard ever religiously based?

Patrick, does Fear Draws Misfortune feature Thymme's cool trumpet playing? If so, then I think I'm definitely going to love it.

When was SB religiously based? Try EVERY ALBUM BEFORE MORSE LEFT and yes, symphonic prog rock is what people would consider to be "by the numbers prog", which is what I was getting across in the first place

The musician listing shows - Jeff Libersher / guitar, bass, trumpet, vocals - Thymme Jones / drums, vocals, pseudo-marimba, synthesizer So I guess that other guy is playing trumpet.

I'm sure religious Neal Morse would be very proud of his very non-religious performance on "The Water".
