I discovered these guys from Guitar Hero III with their song "Through The Fire and the Flames". I really liked the song, so I went out and bought the album that it is off of. It is certainly a progressive album! It's still ultimately power metal, but there are many prog hintings. I would suggest them for prog related or crossover because they aren't quite prog metal, but they are without a doubt more progressive than Radiohead or Muse!

Good thinking that they wouldn´t fit into progressive metal even though they have lots of elements that could serve as an illusion to many. Totally over the top noodly power metal. I remember being blown back the first time I heard one of their albums. You probably won´t get very far by mentioning that they are more progressive than both Radiohead and Muse though. Artists are generally not added to PA because they are more progressive than what´s already included. Only on their own merits. Í´m not sure about their inclusion on PA ( I simply haven´t listened to enough of their music to be sure), so lets hear what others have to say about it.

Well, plenty of other cheesy DT-wannabes are here, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were added.
I would be very sad, though.
It might interest you to know that the guys in Dragonforce strated this band as a joke with the intent of making fun of Power Metal. So they went as over-the-top as possible.
Problem was, people started taking them seriously.

LOL
Hell no, there is nothing progressive about compiling everything people hate about power metal and forming the most generic, awful power metal band Conor Fynes has ever listened to.
Blind Guardian and Rhapsody of Fire are progressive power metal bands, even Symphony X are progressive power metal. Listen to them, and then listen to Dragonforce and you can easily tell that those three bands are certainly operating on a different echelon.

I would much rather see the Rolling Stones in the archives. They even have flutes in a song and one of them used to dress in Indian fashion, that's closer to prog than Dragonforce will ever get.
