okay first I
don’t say they are equal at all the play on a different platform off rock, on
is Psychedelic, Space, Experimental, Progressive, Blues, Pop band and the other
Vaudeville, Operatic, Glam, Progressive Rock, Heavy, pop, or something I am a big fan of both bands, both have interesting history as bands, both are highly influencual, they have both a varid and interesting discographies, Pink Floyd is conciderd as one of the founders of Prog, psychalelic rock and Space rock, Queen brought vaudeville, operatic and drama to the stage, and influenced alot of bands Anthrax[54], Ben Folds Five[55], Blind Guardian[56], Kurt Cobain[57], Def Leppard[58], Extreme[59], The Killers[60], Foo Fighters, Green Day[61], Guns N' Roses[62], Helloween[63], Iron Maiden[64], Judas Priest,[64]Kansas[65], Manic Street Preachers[66], Marianas Trench[67], Marilyn Manson, Metallica[68], My Chemical Romance (Flash and Under Pressure covers), Mika[69], Muse[70], Radiohead[71], The Smashing Pumpkins[72][73], Styx[74], Lady Gaga[75]. wikipedia
probably the 80s ruined much for queens sake with lot of radio friendly pop (I actually
like that ) and disco |

Out of these two, Queen. They might have consisted of a lot of pomp, but thankfully they didn't have an irritating me-me-me crybaby like Roger Waters.

i repeat i dont find them similar in style at all to different genres (well both play some sort of rock) i will probably myself wote for the mighty Pink Floyd, but i dont think Queen i so far behind in my mind they are both impressive and mindblowing and both deserve an equal degree of respect,
both bands have givven so much impact on the musicworld for such a long time, so its hard to not have noticed them in some way, actualy i dont think that is even posible 200 million sold records worldvide (by both) dos not make them anonymes |

but i think Queen had a better vocalist i seems to remember David Gilmour is god, Roger Waters sounds like crow with throt infection (some times other times not so bad) but few vocaslits have made such an impact as the late Farrohk Bulsara (ore better known as Freddie Mercury RIP)

As much as I like Floyd (and I do), Queen is objectively the greatest band ever.

i havent seen this poll in the archives ( or i think so) but i was only curius of the result of this, as i have written obow both are heralded as some off the "best" bands in rock certenly some of the moust famous and popular and both are concidered legends of rock,
together with the Beatles, Led Zepplin and the Who have also share a greate deal of nostalghia with there audience and are all quartets (i think) |

i also like King Crimson (some of my favorite bands) and Tool (is okey in smal doses) but i dont think this poll is made for them King Crimson and Pink Floyd are ceranly some of the 5 or 6 moust important acts in Progressive Rock Pink Floyd and Queen are some of the moust important bands EVER in rock (i hounestly think) and Tool is probably the bravest and moust orignal metal/art rock/post metal bands of the 90s and 00s |

The Floyd are clearly the champions on this poll, and received my vote. In a lot of ways, Queen was technically better when they wanted to be. Both had their stronger and weaker moments, but I think Floyd's weaker moments were much stronger than Queen's weaker moments. Besides, Queen is good, but Pink Floyd is truly iconic. Interesting poll - we could pit two more divergent bands together, I think, but maybe not.

I can't denie Queen song-writing skills, and success, but for me Pink Floyd is heaven.....Freddie's voice, while obviously spectacular objectively, never liked it for the sound of the band...

I'd say its the other way around. Queen's songs have been used in everything from sports to ads to, erm, sports again. Floyd, on the other hand... |

Agreed that PF have less weaker moments, 80s of Queen are terrible. But consindering especially second album, Queen IMO outdone anything from Pink Floyd in terms of arrangements, songwriting, chord progression, dynamics, skills (vocal and instrumental)... PF have been always rather atmospheric, focused on emotional build-up, which is different approach of prog, suiting to different mood. But these early times for Queen were insane, beyond any genre, beyond progressive. Hard to decide.
