okay first I don’t say they are equal at all the play on a different platform off rock, on is Psychedelic, Space, Experimental, Progressive, Blues, Pop band and the other Vaudeville, Operatic, Glam, Progressive Rock, Heavy, pop, or something Confused

but they are both considered to be some of the biggest acts EVER in rock and music in general while Pink Floyd is probably some of the most loved bands in the archives, the other direction i think Queen is placed.
i think for one sake they have less respect on this site (i have read all Queen posts here so i now there are lovers as well but i think any way they got too much undeserved critic here) i think for Queens sake they are a very skilled quartet

I am a big fan of both bands, both have interesting history as bands, both are highly influencual, they have both a varid and interesting discographies, Pink Floyd is conciderd as one of the founders of Prog, psychalelic rock and Space rock, Queen brought vaudeville, operatic and drama to the stage, and influenced alot of bands  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthrax_%28band%29">Anthrax http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-MP3_David_Lee_Roth_interview-53 - [54] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Folds_Five - Ben Folds Five http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-54 - [55] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_Guardian - Blind Guardian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-55 - [56] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain - Kurt Cobain http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-56 - [57] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Def_Leppard - Def Leppard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-57 - [58] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_%28band%29 - Extreme http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-58 - [59] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Killers_%28band%29 - The Killers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-59 - [60] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo_Fighters - Foo Fighters , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Day - Green Day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-60 - [61] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guns_N_Roses - Guns N' Roses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-61 - [62] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helloween - Helloween http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-62 - [63] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Maiden - Iron Maiden http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-queencuttings.com-63 - [64] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judas_Priest - Judas Priest , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-queencuttings.com-63 - [64] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_%28band%29 - Kansas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-64 - [65] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manic_Street_Preachers - Manic Street Preachers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-65 - [66] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marianas_Trench_%28band%29 - Marianas Trench http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-66 - [67] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marilyn_Manson_%28band%29 - Marilyn Manson , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallica - Metallica http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-67 - [68] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Chemical_Romance - My Chemical Romance (Flash and Under Pressure covers), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mika_%28singer%29 - Mika http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-68 - [69] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muse_%28band%29 - Muse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-69 - [70] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiohead - Radiohead http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-70 - [71] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Smashing_Pumpkins - The Smashing Pumpkins http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-71 - [72] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-72 - [73] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Styx_%28band%29 - Styx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-73 - [74] , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Gaga - Lady Gaga http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29#cite_note-74 - [75] .  wikipedia

probably the 80s ruined much for queens sake with lot of radio friendly pop (I actually like that Shocked) and disco Dead
but few bands in the 70s touched the pedestal they stood on (except probably Pink Floyd, Elton John and Zeppelin)

Out of these two, Queen. They might have consisted of a lot of pomp, but thankfully they didn't have an irritating me-me-me crybaby like Roger Waters.

i repeat i dont find them similar in style at all to different genres (well both play some sort of rockErmm) i will probably myself wote for the mighty Pink Floyd, but i dont think Queen i so far behind in my mind they are both impressive and mindblowing and both deserve an equal degree of respect,

both bands have givven so much impact on the musicworld for such a long time, so its hard to not have noticed them in some way, actualy i dont think that is even posible LOL 200 million sold records worldvide (by both) dos not make them anonymes

but i think Queen had a better vocalist Stern Smile i seems to remember David Gilmour is god, Roger Waters sounds like  crow with throt infection (some times other times not so bad) but few vocaslits have made such an impact as the late Farrohk Bulsara (ore better known as Freddie Mercury RIP)

i havent seen this poll in the archives ( or i think soConfused) but  i was only curius of the result of this, as i have written obow both are heralded as some off the "best" bands in rock certenly some of the moust famous and popular and both are concidered legends of rock,
together with the Beatles, Led Zepplin and the Who have also share a greate deal of nostalghia with there audience and are all quartets (i think)

i also like King Crimson (some of my favorite bands) and Tool (is okey in smal doses) but i dont think this poll is made for them Confused

King Crimson and Pink Floyd are ceranly some of the 5 or 6 moust important acts in Progressive Rock

Pink Floyd and Queen are some of the moust important bands EVER in rock (i hounestly think)

and Tool is probably the bravest and moust orignal metal/art rock/post metal bands of the 90s and 00s

The Floyd are clearly the champions on this poll, and received my vote.  In a lot of ways, Queen was technically better when they wanted to be.  Both had their stronger and weaker moments, but I think Floyd's weaker moments were much stronger than Queen's weaker moments.  Confused  Besides, Queen is good, but Pink Floyd is truly iconic.  Interesting poll - we could pit two more divergent bands together, I think, but maybe not.

I can't denie Queen song-writing skills, and success, but for me Pink Floyd is heaven.....Freddie's voice, while obviously spectacular objectively, never liked it for the sound of the band...

Agreed that PF have less weaker moments, 80s of Queen are terrible. But consindering especially second album, Queen IMO outdone anything from Pink Floyd in terms of arrangements, songwriting, chord progression, dynamics, skills (vocal and instrumental)... PF have been always rather atmospheric, focused on emotional build-up, which is different approach of prog, suiting to different mood. But these early times for Queen were insane, beyond any genre, beyond progressive. Hard to decide.

Both have tallent making perfect songs and not putting albums full of it. Pink Floyd is however more important for me. Recordings like Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Relics and Live at Pompeii are great!

Queen have their fine moments and Farok Bulsara was a great singer, but they are no match for Pink Floyd.

I love Queen I, II, SHA, Opera... but then that's it. I heartily dislike the later stuff.

If these four were up against the first four Floyd's - Piper, Saucerful, AHM, Ummagumma, I think I'd vote Queen.

But to compare Animals, DSOTM, WYWH and some of the even later Floyd with Queen's later output means the decision's a stroll in the park. FLOYD.

With Queen II, they almost were, IMO.

There is love for Queen from a few of us on the site, the trouble is that my love died with the release of A Day at the Races. And stayed dead. But I still play the first four albums very regularly, and I guess I always will.

Floyd by quite along way. Queen could be a little patchy, and for some reason Brian May makes my skin crawl, but thats nothing to do with the music I guess..

When Queen were good, in the 70's, they were really good. Queen II would probably be in my top 10 'rock' albums of all time, and I suspect 'A Night at the Opera' wouldn't be far behind either. They were unique and very talented, eclectic songwriters,in many respects very much prog, and I've never heard a singer in rock - any type of rock - as skilled and versatile as Freddie M.

However, Floyds combination of grim cynicism, whinging lyrics, soaring guitar solos, ambient soundscapes, and suicidal druggy overtones simply resonates with me more..

How horrible that a band like Queen is eclipsed by Pink Floyd!!!  Queen are better songwriters by far, Freddie Mercury is possibly the greatest vocalist of his day...Pink Floyd get too much credit for writing mediocre slop.

Pink Floyd, no doubt about it. Queen albums are more inconsistent in my opinion, and the worst Queen albums are definitely far weaker than the worst Floyd albums.

Nah, that's just commercialism.  Is this to say that Who Let the Dogs Out is better than Money, or that Centerfield is better than Echoes?

I must admit that I have gotten tired of the Waters "I'm the dead man's son" cartharsis he's inflicted on us so many times, Dead and that Queen's "Let's release another meaningless single to sell to the mindless millions" is rather entertaining Clown.  But that's not to say it's any good.

I love the following Pink Floyd albums: Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall

but...

I love the following Queen albums: Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races

a similar great four album run for both bands. I love them for completely different reasons, almost completely opposite bands.

Third choice for me. They're great in their own genre and i don't think you want to compare it.

It doesnt make sense to me. How can one justify the idea behind it? Queen and Floyds are poles apart (or polls apart)!

don't know why is aloud to repeat votes... of course, we are on the wrong place to compite, but PF is really boring at the side of Queen... but I know I gonna suffer for saying that... jejeje...

Pink Floyd, definitely. There's about a 10 year period in Queen's career that didn't produce anything I really like.

There are also periods of many years in Pink Floyd's career when they didn't produce anything at all.

For me, this is like a poll with only one option...It's like I'm voting for the new president of Belarus...

Out of this two, my vote goes to Queen. I do like PF but Queen was the first rock band that I ever listened, so they have a special place in my heart.
