I don't know what's with the costumes, but I have to own this opera. It took me a while to get into opera, but I heard part of Elektra on the radio a while ago and it's stunning. In a way, I think appreciating opera is like listening to avant-garde music because the climaxes aren't about memorable melodies but the progression of tones. They're just sung instead of squonked on a saxophone.

There's something primal, yet highly refined about opera.
Hypnotising.

That new Dream Theater video is hilarious.

Law and Order may be swallowing my soul.

It appears that in the borders sale I bought 2 days of classical music, including almost 10 hours of Beethoven. Huh.

I'm tipsy now, no longer drunk.
I haven't been drunk for about an hour and a half now anyway.

I never listened to a Wagner opera so far. Ouch Only Tannhauser's ouverture.

I usually say it as a pun that I'll probably hate Wagner's work, since I'm a Debussy-ist. Tongue

A friend of mine was at the Beyreuth (in)famous festival, he told he slept all the way through Walkyrie until the final act.

Perhaps you'd enjoy some of my whimsical poetry in your fanciful state of inebriation?

Roses are red...
...Love mufflers...
And then Don Knotts said to me, he said hey johnny, get your bum over here and let me finish my story. So don was say...

Violets are blue...
Chicken pot pie  immersed in George Carlin's embalming fluid
Something about submarines. It's 5 30 AM...
Sleep comes slowly to those who vote on election day...

Maybe it is a sort of debt? Hey sue, did you ring me up? No? Get out! Get out! Damn you vile woman!

File woman. Filing taxes for big business. Lets say she had 11 papers in her hand...
You know, Al, you are full of...

I know, I just feel like wasting time. Kicking around a peace of ground-chuck in the wal-mart

Super...super..cali...supercalifraggles... It isn't even a real word, steve! I feel silly, now. Why do I have to spell it, again? You say I what? Forgot to capitalize your name?

I use too many new paragraphs. Someone needs to teach me a lesson. Lesson. Lesion, boils. Boiling water, what. her? She is just standing there. She won't hurt anyone.

Big smileTongueWink

Don't forget Theusz Hamtaahk.  There's onrunning themes there as well.

But do check out the Retrospektiw I-II version of Theusz Hamtaahk.  I prefer it to the Trilogie live version.

I guess so! That's great. I was hoping you wouldn't run into any problems  there.

Can's Tago Mago was not bad but I did feel it was very self-indulgent.

Aumgn is what they should have stuck with.

My opinion of Tago Mago has grown with time, and it's a pretty good album--a bit too long sometimes though.

Ege Bamyasi is better.

Hey guys....I always see tons of talk here about Can, but little about AD and AD2.  Just wondering if you "difficult music" lovers appreciate them as well.?

I actually haven't heard AD or AD2 yet, as Krautrock didn't hit me well right away years back--so I haven't had the chance to deeply immerse myself in it until now.

I think AD2 is my next stop after Can, now that I've been getting into Can more lately. What's the best starting point?
