There must be a favourite of yours that is not getting the ink that they so deserve. I wonder who that might be????

He likes all prog-metal equally.

Werll, Yes is not on my top 10, maybe not even in my top 20, but if they are something is underrated.

While The Jonas Brothers have fame and fortune at very young age with mediocre music, Yes had to fight all their life to get some security.

I'm gonna have to go with ELP.  I've listenened to their records from ELP to Welcome Back, and can't find a single thing that warrants their appeal.  Call me false, but I think they're waaaaaaay overrated.

Overrated by whom? Certainly not here, since none of their albums are in the Top 100Confused... Anyway, the fact you don't like them doesn't mean they are overrated - just that your tastes are differentWink.

I thought they were an ordinary band at first , but if you keep listening you'll proably end up liking them. Although it's symphonic prog , ELP is no easy listening stuff and quite demanding.
I remember the day ELP clicked on me , I first listened to Keith Jarret's Koln Bremme and Lausanne concerts and then Welcome Back. From that day on I am a fanboy.

I respectfully call you false. If anything, people stereotype them and never give them the time of day

I can take or leave ELP (I've only got Tarkus and Trilogy) but what really worries me about them is that their "biggest fan" in the UK is the right-wing comedian Jim DavidsonTongue

Well, for a band that get's a lot of attention, compared to most other progressive acts anyway, I´d have to say that Dream Theatre seem a tad shy in the actual song writing department. And their individual soloing just seems ... more technically skilled than actually good, if that makes any sense.

A clean-living American act who appeal to very young fans and sell shedloads of units - unless Ivan's referring to the two guys who run my local kebab house, of course.

Ack, I absolutely cannot see what is so amazing about The Beatles. I just... argh. I can tolerate revolver. But...

Other bands I feel are overrated..wait let me rephrase that. I don't believe in things being overrated or underrated. I feel they are all rated as they are to be. It is neither right nor wrong. And all subjective opinion.

Now that my pseudo intellectual pretentious bilge has been taken care of, let me talk about bands who's rabid fanbase I wish were cast off into the ethereal abyss for the mass heaps of praise given to said bands.

Genesis (never really got into them)
Yes (eh...)
Rush (I like them, but Moving Pictures could have been better)
Dream Theater (Hahahaha)
Pink Floyd (One of my favorite bands..top 5 at least.)
Jethro Tull (Again, top 5 or t 10 favorite bands of all time, still can't see this godly praise)
*looks at top 100 albums list*
King Crimson (Another one of my favorite groups)
Gentle Giant (Come on....)
Symphonic prog in general (I await my ProgArchives Golgotha)

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but the thing I have with the Beatles is that even though I can understand how much they did for music and how good they were I've been so overexposed to their music that I'm completely desentisized to it.

Slayer is overrated??? then you should try Reign in Blood. What i dont understand is, why is this hailed as brilliant? To me its just two awesome songs, with filler inbetween. And i have heard some of their other CD's also. I borrowed South of Heaven, what a piece of sh*t. lousy lyrics an awful sound! It basically proves slayer cant handle anything slow, Araya's vocals are horrible. And as always Kerry King's leads are sh*t

you can't see anything amazing about the Beatles? you must be joking! put yourself 45 years back in time; do you have any idea what kind of songs were around back then? compared to those songs the Beatles were light years ahead. true, they started out with simple rock'n roll, but on "Rubber Soul" they slightly started changing their approach, if only with the song "Norwegian Wood", and from "Revolver" on they began experimenting more and more.

Well, I never said they weren't influential. I just greatly dislike them. I don't have to like them, do I?

Bah. God damn myself for using such pejorative language in relation to the Beatles. "Ack, I absolutely cannot see what is so amazing about The Beatles" what an ignorant and blind opinion. On such a subjective matter!

Music is so subjective. I didn't think clearly before I typed. No, I am not saying I like the Beatles. but, I effectively said that liking the Beatles was a fallacy. This is simply not true.

I absolutely cannot stand them, but there is nothing "wrong" with liking them. They were highly influential musicians. Pardon my brusque nature.
