I didn't used to like Jordan, but these days he is my favorite Key master for DT. I like his playing, and he seems to be a very sweet and genuine human being, unlike Kevin Moore who always seemed like an asshole to me.

Both of them kicked ass, but I like Jordan's style the most 'cause of his inmense knowledge and Musicianship.

I went with Kevin Moore.  I really like his ability to blend with the rest of the band to make a rounder song in my opinion.  Don't get me wrong, I love Jordan's stuff, he is fantastic, I just like the atmosphere that Kevin brings to a song, including his solo work.

With that being said, he leaves a little bit to be desired as a singer.  Seriously, hire someone to sing for you Kevin, love your stuff but the vocals are the biggest reason that I don't own any of it.  Radio is enough for me.

Rudess from a technical perspective, Moore from a compositional perspective (eg, Space Dye Vest).

I also love kev's work with Chroma Key.

Moore , because he knows that silence is a note also. Rudess is a flashy chopmeister who likes to Stanley Clarke his way to stardom. Ok, but not pour moi!
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

they both have great characters...closer to mine is Kevin Moore, that's why i love him.
Kevin More did his best music in Dream Theater. Also Jordan Rudess is doing his best music in Dream Theater...this means Dream Theater is a Big Band, United !

Not a huge fan of either. Moore seems less prone to basically giving up at the piano backing bits, which Rudess seems to make as simple as possible, so I probably like him more. And Awake and Images and Words have more memorable keyboard bits.

I don't really know. I like both of them because of different reasons. Moore is more melodical and emotional. There were few songs I liked from his era, but those songs are monsters. Rudess, I think, is technically a better player, and the crazy way he plays really sounds cool.

Moore is winning? Never thought I'd see that here.

In the context of Dream Theater, I think Rudess was a better fit for them.  However, I like Moore's solo stuff better than anything Dream Theater made, and Rudess' solo albums are just w**k-shows, albeit impressive w**k-shows.

So since the poll only asked which musician I thought was best, not in the context of Dream Theater music, I'll have to vote for Mr. Moore.

Kevin Moore by far. He may not have the technical ability of Ruddess but I feel that overall he contributed a lot more to the band. Ruddess' (relatively) apathetic approach towards songwriting is, I feel, one of the big things dragging down the band today.

Also, barring the new album, Ruddess is not really a keyboardist. He plays a guitar sound-alike synth tone and live he uses a keytar. That is not a keyboardist, that is an alternative guitarist Wink

Rudess' sonic experimenting can get quite annoying, but most would agree he is a keyboard/music deity of some sort.
Listening pleasure = Moore
Technical ability = Rudess

Now I think I've made up my mind, my vote would go for Rudess because I belive he really fits Dream Theater better, and I really like the sound that he has helped create in the band. Though I still like some of Moore's stuff a lot.

Hmm, after listening to Images and Words again, specifically the song Take the Time, I don't what the hell I was thinking.  That keyboard solo is utterly amazing!  Maybe my favorite Dream Theater song!

Kevin Moore wins all-around.
