I'm in the process of cleaning my room and accidently blocked my doorway with my wardrobe...temporarily of course.

Seventh Son of A Seventh Son and Somewhere In Time.

My personal favorite is Piece Of Mind, but those two have more 'proggy' elements are are generally more liked.

Not one of my favorites, but it was short.

I like J.D. Salinger's short stories...for some unknown reason.

Have to admit I haven't read those.

Next up: the Villehardouin chronicle.

I recommend A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving.  It's one of my favorites (even if long-winded).  The last four pages blew me away.

Happy free Thursday, listening to tons of music, and messing with genres by moving bands in different places.

Salinger was a master of the short story (Nine Stories is phenomenal, even if I did not think so at first).  The man was a master of subtlety and epiphany.

"Just Before the War with the Eskimos" proves this.

Indeed, he practically makes an art out of short story.

I was most impressed/touched with "A Perfect Day For Bananafish", so that's why it's probably my favorite. The first time I read it was while walking to school (had that habit - until a car stopped just 1 cm in front of me) and at the end of it, I was in the middle of the sidewalk, frozen, with my jaw dropped to the floor.
