Oh and nice to see you changed the titles of CD 2 of Trondheim.
My copy wanted to put them as Trondheim II - 1
That didn't fit CD 1 which had them as Trondheim I: 1
So I changed CD 2s titles to match.

As long as it IS OOP.
Some stuff isn't.
Plus where do you draw the line with something like that "alternative" version of IPoL. It's OOP and I'm sure Cutler et al., don't really want people hearing it, otherwise they'd sell it in that form. Yet it's still illegal, 'cause there is a chance of still finding a copy of it.

I tried to take that position in the "Downloading" thread - but Dean and Ivan weren't thrilled

Not sure. I shall have to check the literature.

James, everything has to be on the internet, otherwise the system falls apart. |
Not at all. Your idea of the Internet is skewed. It would not fall apart. Sure, you can buy MP3s but as far as I know, you cannot buy the HC box as MP3s. That means some daft get has uploaded said box onto the Internet illegally. I don't mind OOP stuff being online. That's completely fine.

Yes, there's no avoiding having to cut up the tracks.
And to my knowledge it would be legal if you don't distribute it.

I want an MP3 version of the HC DVD. I don't how legal it is, mind you. Also I don't know what the quality would be like.
Audacity uses Line-In, so I could just record the sound. It means cutting the tracks up at a later date though.

I don't know what you could use to just get the audio. In the past if I've made cd versions of DVDs then I use a combination of Handbrake to rip and cubase to strip audio and cut into songs instead of one giant chunk. but I do have an mp3 version of the "Arriving Somewhere" dvd

I could record the audio using Audacity, I suppose.
That's a slow process though. It's a 75 minute DVD and I think there's a limit on Audacity for recording length. I'd prefer to rip the audio, it'd be quicker and probably better quality.

Handbrake or Mac The Ripper, but then you'll need to extract the audio using a program like FCP, Cubase, Nuendo, but I'm sure there's some freeware that can strip audio.

Does anyone know of a program that I can rip DVD audio?
I want to take the audio from the HC DVD, so I can listen to as an album.

Hm, I keep feeling that I've maybe gone as far as I want to go with 'prog' at the moment. Still getting into interesting, creative and 'progressive' music, but I'm not a huge fan of squeaky abstract avant stuff, and I'm having trouble finding guitar-keys-drum-bass epics that manage to square up to the writing standards I get from the classic stuff. Suppose I should check out more modern stuff, but so far I just haven't really heard that much of it I really get a kick out of. That, and I'm getting more interested in classical and pop (yeah, don't care, pop's awesome ) at the moment. So, yeah, sure I'll be returning to the moar-prog-must-have-fold at some point, but I've got other priorities. Except RPI. That's long overdue. And Hammilldergraafgenerator are still pretty cool. [/QUOTE] I recommend Swiss band Memoriance. You'd enjoy their music. Guitar, bass, drums and keys. Also, not all avant-prog is squeaky and abstract.
