I'm curious what personality types are here. This is from the Myers-Briggs personality inventory, adapted from Carl Jung's typologies.
I or E: introverted or extroverted S or N: sensing or intuitive T or F: thinking or feeling P or J: perceiving or judging You can take the test at: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp |

There's already a poll about this, with the exact same link. But why not bury the old poll ... maybe our personalities have depeloped since then!
BTW: Used to be an INFP ... I tried it again recently and now I'm INFJ. |

extroverted introvert
I hate to be a 'stick in the mud', but the Myers-Briggs typology tests are notoriously inaccurate and....pseudo-scientific. Okay, okay they can be fun if you like that sort of thing

You are:
* very expressed introvert * moderately expressed intuitive personality * slightly expressed thinking personality * moderately expressed perceiving personality as ever they do sort of ask each question three times with very similar wording I'm not consistent enough to answer the same way each time ;P |

Well guise, I was like a INTP last time, so I must be awesome or something (inconsistent).

Without going too much into this...I'll just pick on two specific problems with the Jung typology test. First of all, it's over-simplified: e vs. i. You are either one or the other. This ties into the other big problem in that the "vs" eliminates the manifestation of dual characteristics and different moods (eg. I'm the life of the party at times, one of the most "engaging" people you'll meet, but when I'm not 'feelin' it', I'm as withdrawn as someone on the downswing of bipolar).
...Actually, I'll stop there, this stuff IS fun for the less-pedantic-than-I. Just don't live by the results here, you wouldn't want to lock yourself into one of these rigid categories. One thing that these free tests are good for, is that folks can become intested in aspects of themselves (and human beings in general) that they might not otherwise engage in...get the ball rolling, so to speak.

@jimmy_row:
Of course these tests are only a bit of fun ... I'd say that the "e vs. i" is usually quite accurate, but it only confirms what people already knew about themselves. I really think that they're either one or the other ... if you're both then you could be suffering from depression/bi-polar, which is not the point of a personality test. The other thing which this test shows is whether you're quick to judge (j) or tend to keep an open mind (p), but I'd say that the latter in this case could also be a case of avoidance (simply being unable to make up your mind). |

Here is an example of how someone could feel unsatisfied with their results:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The Meyer's Briggs is very inaccurate for me. I remember when I was taking it, most of the answers honestly depended on how I felt. On the day when our scores were revealed to us, the instructor chose me as an example because I scored to one extreme (I forget what my exact score was, but it was very feeley, very emotional). He asked me to read a description of a coffee mug I had written, and it surprised him because it was very quantitative and analytical.
I don't take personality tests well because I tend to pick up on what the question is trying to find and answer in one way or another. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And getting more specific wrt this thread, being that this is a progressive rock site, folks may feel a social pressure to be open minded, or to see themselves as open minded because that is a valued trait here. Whether we like to admit it or not, most people have a self ideal somewhere in the mix that interacts with norms that will almost always affect the way they make assessments, especially concerning themselves. So if I WANT to be that open minded person, I'm going to devise ways to rationalize my choices on the questionaire, and then I'll be super-happy when the results come in.
