Topic: The Best of Yes Posted: March 06 2008 at 03:53 |
It would as a live set. If you replaced New State of Mind with either A Venture or Looking Around, it'd make a great concert.

Easy:
CD1: -Fragile album
CD2: -Close to the edge album the gates of delerium starship trooper the clap
jaja, no, just kidding, I dunno enough Yes to cast my opinion here, but defently, I would put the 3 tracks of CTTE, heart of the Sunrise, Roundabout, South Side of the Sky, the gates of delirium , starship trooper, the clap, and I've seen all good people

Oh heck, Squire did a pretty good job in getting it down to that level in Classic Yes.

I would tell them to bugger off and that any true Yes fan knows you can't be limited to two discs.

Fine, then I'll get rid of the CTTE suite and Siberian Khatru (now that I think about it, I'm not all that crazy about SK anyway), and leave AYAI

K00LZ. IM'A MAKE COMPILATION ALBUM FOR J00.
Enough of that, anyway:
DISC ONE: 1. I See You (Yes) 2. Time and a Word (Time and a Word) 3. Yours is No Disgrace (The Yes Album) 4. I've Seen All Good People (The Yes Album) 5. Starship Trooper (The Yes Album) 6. The Fish (Fragile) 7. Five Percent for Nothing (Fragile) 9. South Side of the Sky (Fragile) 10. Heart of the Sunrise (Fragile) 11. Roundabout (Fragile) 12. And You And I (Close to the Edge)
DISC TWO: 13. Close to the Edge (Close to the Edge) 14. Siberian Khatru (Close to the Edge) 15. The Revealing Science of God (Tales from Topographic Oceans) 16. Ritual (Nous Sommes du Soleil) (Tales from Topographic Oceans) 17. The Gates of Delirium (Relayer) 18. Sound Chaser (Relayer) 19. Awaken (Going for the One) 20. Wondrous Stories (Going for the One) 21 Future Times\Rejoice (Tormato) 22. Machine Messiah (Drama)
And if you buy it off of iTunes, you get a bonus track!
23. Tempus Fugit (Drama)
Also, notice a pattern? I worked my way through the albums chronologically, picking the tracks I liked the best. Disc One: early years. Disc Two: later years.

Pah!
Does the world need another 2CD Yes anthology? Isn't 15 enough? Have Wall-Mart shifted the last one yet or are they still giving it away with Coco Pops? How many copies of the same recording of You And I does anyone actually need?
Even if you made a version of Yessongs from all the studio recordings, the original live version would still be better.
My choice: The first two CDs from Yesyears, but lose the dire America, I'll call this anthology Yescashin.
Disk 1: (72:50) 1. Something's Coming (7:06) 2. Survival (6:18) 3. Every Little Thing (5:41) 4. Then (4:18) 5. Everydays (4:08) 6. Sweet Dreams (3:49) 7. No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed (4:48) 8. Time and a Word (4:31) 9. Starship Trooper (9:26) 10. Yours is no Disgrace (9:40) 11. I've Seen All Good People (6:53) 12. Long Distance Runaround (3:33) 13. The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus) (2:35)
Disk 2: (72:43) 1. Roundabout (8:31) 2. Heart of the Sunrise (10:31) 3. Soon (edit) (4:06) 4. Close to the Edge (18:34) 5. Ritual (21:33) 6. Sound Chaser (9:23)
Which is pretty close to Yesstory without the Going For The One tracks isn't it?
Meh... where's the Virge when you need him?
