if PT puts out an album of studio outakes consisting of Steven Wilson talking about the weather, or about the situation in Iraq, or even if he hums the latest prog gems that come into his head. You can pencil that in on the top of your 2008 list.
If not... watch out for the new Beardfish album. Think she is going to be a great one. Let's hope.

Wilson doesn't even need to put anything out. It is reserved for him.

hahahha true... so this is for #2 down... I guess the #1 spot is forever reserved and retired for the popular pseudo prog of PT which towers above artists who actually did something fresh and inventive

Now, now, if that were true, Blackfield II would have placed 2nd instead of in a 17 way tie for 61st, and his ambient albums get very little discussion here. (BCVSMG and the Continuum albums).
My hope is that Ayreon's new album is as magnificent as some of the previous albums. Also, looking forward to the new unknowns to make their way in to our common vocabulary.

my point exactly.. .stick FoaBP with a Blackfield name on it.. and guess where that album ends up on the list. Put the Blackfield album under the mighty PT name.. and guess where it ends up ranked. hahahhaha Search your feelings Luke......

I suppose my comment was addressed more to the ProgBagel, that the top spots are reserved for Wilson.
P.S. You said you didn't place your votes Micky. And as my dad used to say to me, you have to earn the right to complain by voting. If you didn't vote you have no right to complain. Alas, as the great Neil Peart once said "If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice".

one mans bitching and complaining is another's fun... I don't care who is on the damn list and where for heaven's sake Just a chance to agitate and also point out that PT could put an album of non prog out.. like Rush did . and still probably get in the top 5. It was favorites.. and no problem with that.

i.e. your Forum Agitator title. Now we have to work on the Rush bashing a bit. I'm going to have to start forwarding these posts of yours to TonyR to get him back here to put you back in line.

I guess there will be some Krim this year! Despite DGMLive reporting that the KC reunion wasn't happening till 2009, Tony Levin posted this on his website yesterday (January 24):
And King Crimson is lumbering toward some musical action. First
rehearsals will be in a few months, and I'm hoping it will lead to a
lot of music together this year.
I'm f**king psyched! But not a psyched as I am for EMENTEHT-RE!

Unfortunately, there are quite a few here who would actually be serious if they posted it. The PT fanboy crowd of today is becoming the DT fanboy crowd of old, it appears.

Not seriously seriously, but yes, I took you seriously. I realize that your comment was similar to Micky's and said in jest/disgust. In my defense, I voted for my top 5 albums in Logan's non-collab poll and Porcupine Tree was nowhere to be found, not that most would agree with my top 5. The best part of FOABP is a certain guitar solo by a certain member of my favorite band, otherwise, I think it is good but not great.

You always say RIO freaks, plural, but I seem to be the only one who chills with the trolls and hyenas. It's more the Magma freaks (myself included) that are making a big impact.

oh boy, I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad (sort of like the O'Reilly Factor). Maybe it wouldn't hit number one, but TOP 5 for sure, as long as he mentions how today's youth are spoiled and ignorant.
Seconded on the next Beardfish album...but I thought they came up with a great one in 2007, and it came in at a ridiculous 78th place!! in the collab poll.
