2.Greece, Switz
3.Czech, Poland
4.Germany, Russia
5. Spain, Turkey
6.England, Ukraine

13 European teams are going to play in South Africa. That means that only four best teams from second places in their groups will qualify.

Il' go with:

1. Sweden, Hungary
2. Greece, Israel
3. Czech, Poland
4. Germany, Russia
5. Spain, Belgium
6. Croatia, England
7. France, Romania
8. Italy, Ireland
9. Holland, Norway

18 teams but only 13 will qualify... what a pity that Europe cannot match Africa standards, no?

Yes, Africa, a continent with a "long football history: full of champions, great players of the past, huge tradition, etc, etc", will have 6 teams (host plus 5) to do the happiness of FIFA mafiosos, European impresarios, Asian agents and all worldwide slave-owners... Confused

the draw is quite 'easy' for Greece... we need to prove this on the pitch

from the other groups I think that England will have a tough q.round with Croatia and Ukraine
Holland and Portugal also are in quite 'tricky' groups
from the rest, I don't see any big problem for the 'big' ones to take the first place
Romania, Russia and Poland have a good chance to qualify, even from the 2nd place

Sad news... 8 people killed when the stands of a huge stadium in the city of Salvador, Brazil crumbled; many people are wounded, several with gravity.

It happened half an hour ago and the news didn't reach already the webnews in English.

^^^ That's very sad news indeed, Guigo... hopefully the authorities will look into the reasons behind this tragedy, and put in place thorough safety checks and minimum standards in all its large stadia, in a similar way to the English after Hillsborough in 1989....Unhappy

I really hate to see people dying or being injured when amusing or in a intended joyful moment...

Salvador (third Brazilian city: 3 million inhabitants) is due to receive a new stadium for 2014 WC. Until there we'll have to mourn the dead ones and heal those injured - bit I still have hopes that the responsibles be charged for this sad event.

Thanks for your support, but this seems quite unrealistic to me.
I think  we can challenge Denmark at best, but Sweden and Portugal are almost out of reach.
Our team can play well only  friendlies(most cases) like against Italy this summer.

I believe, that group 4 will send forward Germany and Finland. I have faith in us, especially after the EMs. We'll beat Russia!

Not a good day for English teams:

Sevilla 2 - 1 Arsenal

Manchester United 0 - 1 Sporting

Manchester eventually won the game. Arsenal lost (1:3), so did Rangers (2:3).

^ Sevilla was much better through the whole match
of course Arsenal was playing with many substitutes...
Man. United scored in 92' with an excellent foul from C.Ronaldo
(the more I don't admire him as a character, the better player he becomes...)
