Topic: The Ultimate Opeth song Posted: August 08 2007 at 18:54 |
What's the best Opeth song? So many too choose Vote only if you are familiar with most songs/albums. Moonlapse Vertigo for me.

I like them a lot because theres never a song that stays as my favorite...they just catch me at different times.
This week its Bleak.
Next would be something else.

The Drapery Falls as it's one of their best tracks and dedicates about an equal amount of time to both their acoustic and their metal sounds, epitomising the kind of music they make.

Who's voting for Ghost of Perdition
Anyway I guess the song that best showcases their sound and range would be "The Drapery Falls". I personally like Bleak, When, The Baying of the Hounds, To Bid You Farewell, and Advent.

"Drapery Falls" is my pick but i really like "Winndowpane" and "Death Whispered Lullaby" from "Damnation". My favourite from "Ghost Reveries" is "The Grand Conjuration",not a popular choice i guess.

I voted Godheads Lament because Still Life was my 1st Opeth cd and loved that song, but i couldīve voted easily for The Moor, Deliverance, A Fair Judgement or Ghost of Perdition... or To Rid The Disease (my fave from Dammation) if that was on the list.

Drapery, Deliverance and A Fair Judgement are pretty much the three finest, I'll choose the latter because it's got no votes yet.

Oh gosh I am having a really hard time choosing! First I see The Leper Affinity, which is great, but then I see The Drapery Falls, and Blackwater Park, and Harlequin Forest, and Ghost of Perdition, Windowpane....gah so many choices.
I'm going with Harlequin Forest. When I first got Ghost Reveries, it quickly became my favorite and remains of them them still. A tie for second to Blackwater Park and The Drapery Falls.

I've always had a thing for The Baying of the Hounds
I'm kinda surprised by Ghost of Perdition's lead

Godhead's Lament is my vote. The best Opeth song from the best Opeth album.

Godhead's Lament for me. Perfect song.
But my choice could change...
Why not favorites per albums ? That would be much easier !
Orchid - Under the Weeping Moon
Morningrise - Advent
My Arms Your Hearse - April Ethereal
Still Life - Godhead's Lament (tied with The Moor)
Blackwater Park - Bleak tied with The Drapery Falls tied with Blackwater Park
Deliverance - Deliverance
Damnation - Windowpane tied with Closure
Ghost Reveries - Ghost of Perdition tied with The Baying of the Hounds

The Baying of the Hounds!
I also love The Leper Affinity, The Drapery Falls and A Fair Judgement, among many others...

I'll go for Black Rose Immortal, probably the best song off my favorite album. But it's nearly impossible to choose, they've been so consistently good.
