^ Snakes and Arrows had a very good reasoning behind the title, and plus it's Rush so you know.
Good reasoning doesn't necessarily  mean good title, and we don't know that DT doesn't have good reason for their title.

If they give me a good reason I'll retract my statement Ouch
No need..as I said a good reason doesn't equate to a good title. What I mean is, if they have a good reason why would that make you change your mind and like the title?

Snakes & Arrows by itself sounds like some Viking Metal album
glorifying how cool and deadly snakes are, and arrows into the mix to
increase the deadliness. When you find out what the title really means,
and how it relates to the album it has a different conotation is then a
good title. I'm not judging title merely by how the words sound
together.

Saying I don't like the name of the album isn't bashing. I believe bashing would be like, the only thing that sucks more than that name is the music.

Lets also not forget that Opeth are signed to Roadrunner.

Does anyone else smell the potential tour of the summer?

Good call. Probably won't happen in the summer, though, because Mikael will most likely be finishing up the recording of Opeth's 9th around then.

Also, there's some overlap in the fan bases, but a lot of difference too, I think. Then again, DT once toured with Megadeth.

All we need is Pain of Salvation and Tool to sign to Roadrunner, and they can market themselves as having signed "The Four Horsemen of the Prog-Metal Apocalypse".

WTF? (what the f**k in colloquial english)

Two things:

1. Roadrunner... I'll always remember Roadrunner fondly because the first metal record I onwned (Sepultura's Chaos AD) was Roadrunner.... Today that label is much broader and with more variety (it was mostly an extreme label like Earache or Nuclear Blast - Relapse)... Today we have Opeth... But I don't like much Dream Theater to be there.... it's still a too "metallic" label... not an extreme label anymore but I just hope DT don't release another "heavy" album like TOT (which I like but not 100%) or the atrocious "The Glass Prison" song...

2. "Systematic Chaos".... atrocious title.... it kind of gets me fearful about what I just said in 1. .... But it's DT, so I shouldn't be worried. From their 8 albums and 1 EP (ACOS), I like 7and a half of the albums and the first half of the EP. So it should be OK.

IT WILL BE OK.

Update: I'm even more afraid when the label's website has SLIPKNOT as the biggest news in its portal... that band is atrocious....please.... please.... I should take a Xanax or another anxiolitic..... I'm deeply worried...ShockedConfusedShockedConfused

But then, again, is DT, so shut the f**k up T....Angry

Big%20smile

EDIT: Oh my God... Nickelback.... so long for the "extreme metal" accusation....

Bring it on my five maestros....Big%20smile

I like the title too. It reminds me of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (chaos ~ turbulence) that is not so turbulent but remains my favorite album from the band (first CD included Wink) along with I&W.

"Six Degrees... OF INNER TURBULENCE!!!" was a rather stupid title as well, but that's my favorite DT album.

Oh boy.

Hopefully the 'systematic' part does not amount to used-up song structures, and the 'chaos' part to a few random note solos.

I still like them quite a lot, but I expect better stuff from them, and the clicheed title and Roadrunner don't promise any better stuff, IMVHO.

I do ... I guess (I hope) that the new album will be a successfull combination of Train of Thought and Octavarium. In any case it should be heavy! Cool

What the hell is DT doing in Roadrunner anyway ?
Looks like it would be another ToT, or probably harder...

I hate oxymoronic titles and I hated the way that press release was written. H8

I guess they couldn't think of something better since Close to the Edge and Dark Side of the Moon were taken.  Get a Life.  Who cares about the title?  Do you want a good album with a title that treads on your delicate sensibilities or the greatest title ever and an album that sucks?

Hmmm.... for some reason, that album title made me think of Meshuggah Tongue

I mean... I don't mind Dream Theater being a bit heavy, but, I don't want them that heavy LOL

oh well, let's just hope for the album to release soon Big%20smile

Systematic Chaos reminds me of Mr. Bungle or Captain Beefheart. Something like that. BUT with that said hopefully we'll here some avan-garde stuff from DT. Just kidding. Hopefully it will be a good album. Them and tool seem to be the only progressive metal bands ive really liked much.

Systematic Chaos is not a bad title, but I hope that the music will be a lot better.
Preferably more interesting than some tracks on their latest 2 albums.

Please Christ, no.

that would be disastrous.  Those two bands have next to nothing in common.  However, I also believe Porcupine Tree signed to RR recently, so an Opeth/PT tour would be amazing.
