Come on.  Be honest.  Am I the only person who learned to appreciate Prog after smoking weed?  I don't do it anymore, but I did gain an appreciation for art.Wink

It's never done owt for me. People sometimes assume I must be a drug user because of the style of my writing/art and the music I listen to, but I've never found any drugs that genuinely heighten my appreciation of anything artistic. The best art carries itself just fine and doesn't need some kind of chemical boost.

Well, in the beginning there was a certain leafy substance around. The thing is, I appreciate it even more now that I am completely intoxicant free.

You have a user name. Wink

Anyway, of course you aren't alone, though I doubt if we can say that it's a direct "cause and effect" correlation.

Good classic prog is good on its own (or else it would be no good), and not all 70s prog fans were "heads."

Most were, though, in my experience.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

I learned to appreciate Prog before smoking weed, but it didn't really click until I did, a month or so later.

I appreciate great art and music without the use of any sort of drug. I have not used or tried them and I don't plan to. I'm glad it helps you but I prefer to keep my mind clean and to be high on life.

Well, I discovered prog thanks to it so thanks to it my view of what is music changed for the better. I don't do it anymore and, to be honest, I didn't used it that many times to begin with (I can count them with my fingers).  I remember listening to Gong's You... wow. I'll never look/hear that album the same way again.

Although I'm sure some people may have come to appreciate prog rock from herbal help, I was first introduced to prog when I was 8 years old, therefore being to young to associate herb with prog.Big smileLOL

¿Are you asking because you are smoking and don't want to get caught?... if so, notice that you are asking to the PC...

My anti stance is not from political correctness. It is from experience. I could break it down for you, and not in a 'just say no' way. I lived the life of illusion. I can't tell you how grateful I am that it's over.

I was into prog long before I ever tried pot.  Granted, pot and prog are an amazing combination, but it's not necessary.

This link appears to be turning in to rehab.

There is no doubt that prog musuc can make a great evening when smoking with your friends.  As with any drug you can enjoy it socially with friends or it can take over your life.  Just remember that you don't "need" it and use it wisely.
When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.

Don't smoke, surely will never, but I've had about dozens of miraculous experiences from fantastic albums - plus I can appreciate, in ways, the art.
