from the list Sonja Kristina or Dagmar Krause; Sonja for emotion, Dagmar for sophistication (she sings the most complicated melodic lines in prog). but the real winner is Anna Meek of Catapilla.
not quite prog, though prog-related at least: Inga Rumpf of Frumpy and Atlantis. no-one has a roar like her (except for Anna Meek)

Now I don't remember whether I voted or not, but I'd go for Kate too - as well as Jacqui McShee from Pentangle, whom someone else mentioned in an earlier post. Annie Haslam has a great voice, but a slight cheese factor somewhat puts me off.

Annie and Jane are outstanding.

I don't know exactly why, but I prefer Jane to Annie. So my vote is for Jane Relf

In truth I have never heard the first album with Jane. I was debating getting it. I love the other version of Renaissance and I am curious about the former version. I absolutly adore Annie's voice.

After Annie Haslam, I would vote for Kate Bush too. Prog without a doubt. An incredible talent.

Not on the list, but I adore Jane Duboc's voice (from Bacamarte).  My wife called it whiny.

My favourite voice in Prog at this time is Carolina Prieto from Kotebel.  I also like the use of voices in Karda Estra.

Dagmar Krause certainly gets points for distinctiveness.  Rather unusual.  Almost too distinct at this time for me; I'd have to listen more.

Kate Bush is a long-time favourite artist with a distinct voice... Could vote for her.

Annie Haslam... Well, her voice is strong and very pretty, but I don't find it that extraordinary.  Still, I really like her voice. 

Joanne Hogg's voice is pleasant, but I'm a little New Aged out.

Sonja Cristina's voice is very nice indeed.

Christina Booth -- I don't care for the music or her style.

As for the others (showing my newbieness), I don't know them.

A very strong list!  I particularly want to find well-trained operatic female voices, however, in Prog.

Oh, one singer that would fit well into your list, I think, but didn't make your list, is Jerney Kaagman of Earth and Fire.

I also checked the previous pages to find other overlooked names, but alas:
 
- Stella Vander - Magma (though she doesn't sing solo as far as I know)
 
- Rosi Mueller (of Ash Ra Tempel fame... she's just amazing in the album where herself is "Starring")
 
- Gille Letman (where she sings along with the former in the Cosmic Jokers albums... I don't discriminate her voice, though)
 
out of the list, I only recognise Renaissance and Curved Air singers, so I better not vote.
 
btw, what's the fuss about Kate Bush?!?!? OK, her voice is fine, but as far as I have given my ear, there's nothing so proggy in her solo works. She's under "prog-related" category, anyway... the strongest relation of her to prog is where she backs up Peter Gabriel IMHO...
 
as for prog-singing, I think Renate would beat 'em all, because as much as Haslam's and Kristina's voices are strong, they sing renaissance style IMHO... Renate's voice is rather "distorted", but most proggy...
Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)
