Finally!! I'm starting to love a full album by Van Der Graaf Generator, They're one of the few bands I like that I generally only listen to certain tracks instead of albums, Even though I actually bought 'H to He..' a few months ago. I decided to give it a spin out of the blue yesterday and ended up listening to it three times, Every song on it I now find amazing, Especially 'Pioneers Over C'

I couldn't find 'Pawn Hearts' in the shops so I downloaded it, Which I don't generally like but how and ever. I always loved 'Man Erg', Fantastic, But like with 'H to He' I never gave the full album more than a couple of spins, Now I'm dying to give it more attention, But I can't stop listening to H to He!

Which do you prefer??

Edit - Could have sworn I spelled that right

All VDGG, from The Aerosol Gray Machine to World Record, perhaps. But Pawnhearts is somehow perfect...

I voted Pawn Hearts. Lighthouse Keepers is just incredible. But I really like all
VdG(G) albums, from The Aerosol Grey Machine to Present.

I even like Vital

Winter Wine, if you're feeling blown away by Pioneers, check out the 17-minute version on Vital. It makes the studio version look like a bad joke.

Pawn Hearts is the better of these, but Godbluff/Still Life/World Record are where it's really at.

Love 'em both.
One likes to believe
In the freedom of music
But glittering prizes
And endless Compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity

Hmm, there must be something to VDGG, as so many people like them (the Sixth Formers were playing them on the Common Room hifi today!) but I just can't see it. I think it's Hamill's voice and vocal style that turns me off; I quite like the music.

Pawn Hearts gets my vote, but only just. 'H to he..' is an excellent album too.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I prefer Pawn Hearts.
However both albums are great. It's pity, that since then they hasn't recorded anything as good as their 68-70's output.

"H to He, Who am the Only One" has more memorable songs. It's just more melodic ( in good sense of meaning ).
