I stumbled upon this website, I'm not sure whether it was mentioned here before. It seems to be a site dedicated to the topic of this thread...I'll take a deeper look into it later http://www.dlsi.ua.es/~inesta/Prog/ http://www.dlsi.ua.es/~inesta/Prog/LCDM/index.html Edited by avestin |

I think it would Erik.. especially for those of us who have thought previously that prog began and ended for the most part with what came out of Europe. |

Great Idea. I know only a few bands in this scene and I'd like to know more. Meanwhile I just go over the Japan index here on PA and go over reviews. But a thread about it has advantages of its own. |

Let's not forget the Japanese prog, perhaps I start one of these days a thread as a tribute to the wonderful, often bombastic Japanese prog!

that's a shame Erik.. but waht can you do... as I said earlier hopefully people are watching and listening to these threads and curiousity will take over and they'll check out some of these groups. I for one have enjoyed these threads... and have loved what I've heard so far.. Dallas was the one who really got onto me (on another site) for being a bit 'anglo-centric' in my prog listening... having gone head first into the Italian stuff, a decent entry into the German stuff, and baby steps into Spanish and non-Zeuhl French prog... I can say I've loved it all and can't wait to get more. Now there's Belgian prog.... ahhh... ![]() |

So we don't need to fear that some Admin. will warn us or close this thread for improper prog verbal conduct?

Prog-Brazil his contribution points at the heart of the matter: some categories are so distinctive that it would be better to create categories like Prog Andaluz (flamenco inspired) and Latin Prog (last year I received a bunch of Latin-Prog cd's, incredible how original these sound!) in order to send longing progheads in those specific directions (flamenco, South-American rhythms). This thread has prooved that there is a need for that but I am repeating myself, there will be no new categories like Prog Andaluz and Latin-Prog but in threads we will not be prosecuted to use these terms

I agree completely.... my CC can't handle all this and longs for the day of collecting dust while I argue if 'Genesis is overrated'.. 'Yes are God's gift to prog' .... and 'what is prog.. in prog-metal' ![]() |

I agreed with the (new) genre: Prog-Andaluz (it's a
good name)
There are great bands from Spain playing this
flamenco-prog, like Senogul, Triana and Mezquita.
In fact, I have realized that it could there be a
lot of new genres here in PA...
In South America, you will find Tango-Prog
(Argentina); Bossa Nova-Prog (Brazil); Andean-Prog (Chile); and so
on.
In Portugal (Banda do Casaco, José Cid), France
(Ange, Malicorne) and Italy (Le Orme, Banco...), they play popular music with
prog-rock.
It seems a special kind of symphonic and folk
progressive rises when it is sung in latin languages.
How about Latin-Prog? Humm.. very generic? Ok, I
leave this question to later...
Now we want Prog Andaluz... it's a symphatic genre
of prog.
Good luck!

There's too much quality threads lately, that seem to only focus on music and finding and discovering new bands: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=19836& amp; amp; amp;FID=42 - French http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=17840& amp; amp; amp;PN=1 - Spanish http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7256&a mp;a mp;a mp;PN=3 - Belgium (RIO/Avantgarde) http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=19821& amp; amp; amp;PN=1 - Scandinavia http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=19749& amp; amp;FID=3 - German Folk Prog
This simply can't go on. Lets get back to the old useless threads - "Yes is better than Genesis", "Dream Theater sucks", "is Deep Purple prog?" and "Tool is not prog" etc. |
