Prog music makes you more open minded and gives you more tolerance about life in general. Since we're not "followers" of the mainsteam moneymusic and can make up our minds ourselves, and not buy the music the flock of sheep is told to do by so called journalist in the press.
This IMO is "healthy" and will make you a more rounded person.
We all know the progmusic itself an what it stand for so no further comments to that.

My friend partially blames prog for turning him gay.... for some reason... I think it was because he said listening to prog inspired him to be more open minded... Too open minded, I guess.

Well 30 years ago I was already reading Huxley etc but that was pre prog. Well again 30 years ago I was at late night parties drinking large ammounts of alcohol and inhaling the smoke of substances being consumed by others,at the same time I was listening to Floyd,Yes,Tull,Crimson etc etc beoing played very loudly. It made me a pissed but happy bloke with a headache and if thats a definition of well rounded well I am

I read War and Peace before I knew prog (more or less. It took me about six months :P).
But yeah, prog does stretch out my abilkities so to speak.

i'm getting really sick of these elitist posts about prog. music listeners
are people who listen to progressive music generaly smarter than those who don't?
should people who don't listen to progressive music be forced into concentration camps so that they can work for us prog. fans and play a role in society?
should people who listen to progressive music be entitled to tax breaks that non-progressive fans can't recieve?
enough with these meaningless 'prog music makes us better than the rest of the world' posts

in some ways it has. it has made me think more about music and think more out of the box. I read more and mathematically i am better. but in a way prog has distracted me from school work cause i occasionaly listen to prog instead of doing homework

it has definitely made me think differently, but it also turned me into a music snob and my social life is a bit more lacking now, because when i am around other forms of music (mostly pop, which is mostly around) it is poison to my ears, and I get incredibly uncomfortable and distracted because of it

Well, prog don't made me a better person but, make's me open my eyes to a world were I feell it's that I searching all my life in relation to music, it's not make to somebody more inteligent or better than the rest of the people, but change my life and make me more patient and inspired me in a lot of things I made, I also heard prog wen I made excersise, I can concentrate much better and is relax so, the excersises hurts less than with another music  .

To an extent. I was reading classics and interested in philosophy and
all that before getting into prog, in fact it was those interestes that
got me into it to begin with, in a way.
But yeh I think prog has helped to 'round me out' slightly. For one I can now say I listen to intelligent music ;)

Uhh... no need to get all worked up. Nobody was promoting your allegations of "Non-Prog Concentration Camps" and, "I'm smarter than everyone else because I listen to prog".

Yes, prog has indeed improved my life. Prog saved me from the mean streets of LA. It taught me important values, like melody and taste. It gave me back life. Through progressive rock, I was reborn. Before I discovered prog, I was a slob. Afterwards, I wore the best suits and women found me much more attractive. Prog saved my sex life. If you and your lover are having bad episode, just put on Yes's Tales from Topographic Oceans and watch her eyes light up as the groove take over her body. Let Jon Anderson do your crooning for you. I am also financially more secure. I don't buy groceries unless I know that Robert Fripp has opened his mouth and let forth his etenal wisdom that week. If he hasn't, then I have no reason to sustain my life force. I feel sad for those unfortunate masses who have never visited the Court of the Crimson King. What kind of age is this when there are poor starving Ethiopian children out there who have been DENIED having their souls purged of sin by the scourging sound of Geddy Lee's almost siren like voice? I hope to one day perform missionary work in those wrethed cultural wastelands. until then, I will sit here and feel the power of Tarkus flow through my body every morning.
