I love these three....but Roll the bones is one of my favourite of all Rush's career (the namesake track is enough to love the whole album, I think)

Roll the Bones- Peart's set sounds the best on this album :)

I like some songs on Counterparts (Nobody's Hero is one of my favorite
ballads), but overally it's not stellar and neither is Test for Echo.
To me at least Roll the Bones is more solid.

I cannot believe what I am reading here.
Counterparts blows both RTB and TFE out of the water. Peart's
drum sound on RTB is way too thin and snappy. Other than Driven
and Totem, Test's songs are uninspired afterthoughts.

Wel, based on the live songs of these songs played in their live records I prefer TFE

In college (around 1996 or 1997), a friend asked me to listen to Test
For Echo. I took it home and popped it in and made it to the 3rd
song before I turned it off. It was an odd attempt at sounding
more metal but with boring riffs played over and over and a muddy sound.
