I'm extremely open minded towarks all subgenres of prog, and mostly dislike(not hate) the poppiest bands

So, Genesis trio, Styx, Asia, Tool... That's about it.

What's your reason on not considering them prog? I'd love to hear it.

As for the thread question... I can't really answer it. I don't really hate any
prog band. I'm not a big Floyd fan but I do know that there music is very well
written and would never associate the word hate while talking about them.
One likes to believe
In the freedom of music
But glittering prizes
And endless Compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity

I dont have a problem with the video. At least it was amusing. It's the music I have a problem with.

Oh, I don't mind the video either, it's quite amusing.  I just wondered if anyone had seen it before.

I still can't understand....

maybe you mean DT since 2000...

I would agree partly on that

If I would mean DT since 2000... I'd probably got something like this written:

well #1 = Dream theater since 2000... (my poop is too precious to me to pile it on an random dream theater album)

Maybe you should rethink about it...

Even their last studio album was magnificent...

Pink Floyd isn't necessarily bad, but they're way way way too over-rated.
My grip must be flipping

My hopes keep on dipping
And his lips keep on smiling all the time

None of these bands are downright bad- in fact, Druid are excellent as
are Marillion. However, in terms of pointlessness, Starcastle are hard to
beat; if imitation is the highest form of flattery, then Yes' heads are still
swelling 30 years after Starcastle's debut! They are the closest I've ever
heard to an outright tribute act that suddenly decided to write original
material.

Druid however, aren't as close to Yes as I'd heard. I heard their first
album a few years ago on vinyl but only today bought the CD. The songs
are more polished than what Yes do, and with far more mellotrons. And
Marillion don't especially sound like Genesis either to these ears...

Salmacis, after reading your post I decided to go back and listen to some
Starcastle and Druid. Perhaps, in spite of all these years of hearing them,
I'm just missing something.

Right now I'm halfway through Starcastle's debut album and ... nope, I
wasn't wrong.

They truly suck. At least as far as I'm concerned, but what do I know?

Sorry if my post mislead you- I'm not a fan of Starcastle either; their first album is plain plagiarism and their second is plain boring. All I was saying was that compared to some genres, prog doesn't have any REALLY bad bands.

Yes I agree, this song makes me  want to vomit, but in order to be the worst famous Prog band ever, it has to be prog, and THREE MEN GENESIS IS POP, as simple as that.

Of course if you want to take the band as a whole, you can't ever  consider the worst Prog band those guys who once released Supper's Ready, Musical Box, Can Utility and the Coastliners, Dancoing with the Moonlit Knight, etc, etc, etc.

Personally, I have never seen what was so great about Marillion. I like some of their material, but it doesn't click with me for the most part. They may not be the worst, maybe overrated though.
