It's not the RIAA you have to worry about. England will have it's own Record Industry Association. In Australia it is ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) and they certainly go out of their way to shut down file sharing in Uni's. All these industry association people know that universities are just a hot-bed of filthy little filesharing geeks who don't want to pay a cent for the right to play music, ignoring the fact that most of them wouldn't have two cents to rub together anyway. I still find it amusing to think that all these RIA's think that just because so and so has all these music files on his computer that were downloaded, then the music industry is out of pocket. They fail to realise that so and so would probably never have gone out and bought these because so and so can't afford it anyway.

I'm pretty sure there was a big thing about the RIAA getting involved in other countries. I may be wrong though. In any case, I don't know the name of the UK association

I used to use eMule.. Everything I searched for was there, compiled in a nice RAR.

Though, due to my gonvermnent who voted for a new anti-sharing law and other sh*t like that I nowadays use Soulseek. Can't say I'm happy with the change, yet I cannot say as well I'm in pain about it..

I got scared when I saw people naming off pieces of crap like Limewire and Soulseek. Fortunately, a small string of DC++ occured. You can use BT sometimes, but DC++ is easily the best tool around for grabbing music... which isn't illegal where I am, not that such a thing would stop me.

Soulseek is completely different to Limewire. If anything, it's more like DC++ than normal P2P, except you're not restricted purely to the hub, and it's more oriented towards electronic music.

I don't use any because:

1. my dial-up connection sucks

and

2. if I need mp3 I go to the local flea market and buy cheap mp3 CDs with many obscure and old prog rock goodies.
