My vote went to Bruford for his mastery of time signatures and general excellence. Second i wud of said Bonham though, he always picked the best drum beats to accompany the riffs.

Neil Peart by far- no contest. But Bruford comes in a close second and Palmer, third.

As usual, you're way off base. You can't compare his work in Asia to anything he did before with ELP or afterwards with ELP, Qango and his own band. If you haven't heard it all, or seen him live, you really can't say that.
Carl did dumb down for Asia... he'll even tell you that.
You're in the UK... you should attend one of his masterclasses.. and then come back and tell me that...

Actually it would be great to watch a professional like him give a clinic,but not for £20!!!!
His drumming in Asia lacks integrity....

If we keep this near the top then this should be the last one ...hopefully.Trouble is they all seem to end the same way (just like films about The Titanic) Bruford wins every drum poll I've ever seen.At least on this one Peart is giving him a bit of a run for his money

I would tend to agree with "The Bullet" : Bruford is a living Rolex / Omega / Heuer. His sense of time is incredible and mathematical. Neil Peart, I once read, was influenced by Bruford. The fact that Phil Collins (a very close second in my opinion) got Bruford to fill in on the TOTT Genesis tours speaks volumes. Both are jazzers in their own way.
Yet again, this is art after all. We can't (and shouldn't) all agree. Music is about the right thing at the right time. Technique only helps us to achieve it, but is not an end in itself.

Bill Bruford gets my vote. He is one of the most exciting and technically proficient drummers ever.
If I had to name others - Carl Palmer, Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy and Ian Paice would lead the rest of the pack in this poll
