I have and like all of these albums. Great list. I went with Zeit, since I think it an überclassic, but I suspect that I've voted for most of these in PA polls over the years. Vortex' Les Cycles de Thanatos would be my other choice. That album blew me away, so to speak, but then a number of albums here really grabbed me by the yarbles.

Mid to high 30's for us tomorrow. I'm glad you picked that one Phil. For me they are very close but like you i do prefer the second Vortex album a little more.

Uzed is incredible and it's good to see you rate Von Zamla in your top three. No votes for it but it's been mentioned a few times.

Like Sagi this has become almost impossible for me to vote. Those VORTEX albums are absolute must-haves for any who don't yet posess them. Then add UZ, FLOYD, RAHMANN, ZAO and PT and it's giving me a headache just thinking about it.
I finally picked Rahmann simply because they had no vote and they sure deserve it.

Having driven through Pennsylvania many times on our journey to Florida i can say there's not much difference in our weather. But yeah that cold air does come from the north so Canada has to be responsible and of course we apologise profusely. We always found the temps didn't change much until we got well into West Virginia.

I envy you. I'm in Rome, it's about 6pm, it's dark and rainy but I had to switch off the warming and I'm at work woith the windows open. And the weather forecasts this morning said "frost"

Went with Zeit. After having it for a few years, I'm finally starting to hear the cool stuff just underneath the surface - it's one of those albums that rewards close listening, but sounds kind of dull if you just play it as background music. I think there's something really special going on there, though, so I'll give it my vote today.
Other contestants: Animals is great, one of my top 5 Floyd albums. and I really like both of those Vortex albums (David/G-Bamsen recommended them to me, and I've listened a few times on Youtube) but don't know them well enough to choose them. I've really never gotten into Zao, but I haven't listened to them in ages either, and don't own any albums or copies of albums.
The Porcupine Tree album is the first one I ever heard by them, and I never dreamed that he/they would get so big. It seemed to me at the time like a pretty good Pink Floyd-inspired project, but nothing that would really make much of an impact. I was wrong there, it's now considered a minor (or even major) classic by many. Still, I prefer their tighter middle period, exemplified by Lightbulb Sun and In Absentia. Though curiously, Stupid Dream is one of my least favorites.

I've taken years before getting into it. I have given my first original vinyl copy to a friend because it was boring me (what an idiot!) and now it's one of my favorite albums. |
Wow lots of votes for Zeit including SaltyJon. It's hard for me to imagine how they created this in the studio. I mean it must have taken a lot of patience because often it seems like there's not much happening. This really is a headphone album though with the listener needing to use their imagination. |
