Thanks for clearing that up M@x... These people should be rounded up and castrated. And then we could start to REALLY hurt them.

I got a message earlier that there was an upgrade being done to the server, I think.

Well. Same problem for us then. "Good" thing it's not just me.

Haven't been able to access the site more than twice for about 3 hours. And this is the first time I've been able to enter the forum. Something is wrong...

I've been having the same problem as well. Excruciatingly slow today. Not many error messages, mainly slowness up to the point of stand-still.
Just getting to this page to post this took me about 25 minutes.

One of a number of error messages that have been popping up now and then when I've tried loading pages here:
Server Error in Forum Application An error has occurred while connecting to the database. Please contact the forum administrator.
Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_db_connection File Name:- common.asp
Error details:- Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Invalid connection string attribute
-------
This is one of several different messages that come on a irregular basis whe trying to get a page to open,

I don't usually get the error message (though I get plenty of the slowness), but I just got two of 'em in a row. Nice!

I'm not talking about loading times for pages as we have 023972 signatures and sh*t that takes a lot of time... I'm talking when you press the link for, say, an specific thread, it takes SO long sometimes to get there, and sometimes, like yesterday a few times, it didn't get there at all and I had one of two possible messages, either "server forum error" or something like that or the IE-generated "Internet Explorer can't open this page" or something. Now, it's not my computer (I have two) nor my conecction (every other website works perfectly... even Mike's slow-as-hell ratingfreak!!).....
And the worst thing is the recurrent problem with replies lost. It has gotten to a point where, whenever I write a reply or a new topic, I actually copy all the text just in case I get the glorious "forum error" message and lose everything, like has happened coutless times to me in the last month.
So please whoever has to do something.. maybe the band requires more bandwidth (I don't know nothing about that) or a new server or a deal with Dream Theater.net or something, but please...for the first time ever, PA is becoming a nuisance... and not because of the posts therein!!! |
I have to agree with the T, what is going on lately? I feel like even not visiting ( a relief for some ) because of the failure rate when clicking on links and threads. The main page is far more reliable than the forum but this must be a server issue as normally amount of registered users is about 20-30 maximum. Or is the software slowing down because of hacking attempts? Very frustrating... |
By the way people, this error has been happening for months now, it isn't something that has been just happening lately.

me too. I need to click like 10 times on a thread or even thread section(eg: Prog Polls) to get inside.
