In the Court...
(...of the Gentle Giant...).
Seriously, King Crimson.

Hmmmmm - "best" is another one of those words like "overrated". However, my personal favourite from that list would be Piper so that's what I voted for.

Tough choice between King Crimson and Marillion, but I'll pick KC for historical importance.

I had trouble picking Crimson or ELP, both great bands debuting with my favorite albums by them. I picked Crimson. I should also mention that Pink Floyd's debut is also awesome.

In this moment I prefer "Gentle Giant" of "Genle Giant".
In absolute I prefer "Arrow Head" of Osage Tribe.
For always yours, Mandrakeroot.

Script for A Jester's tear. It had a mature sound, and as an immediate classic, same goes for ITCOTCK, where most debut albums are not the best work from the given artist those two are. |
Totally agree. Script and ITCOTCK are my favourtie Marillion and KC albums.
I would also have included Pavlov's Dog - Pampered Menial on that list, and while it certainly wasn't prog Black Sabbath (the album) was an astonishing debut.

For me definitely: ELP- Emserson, Lake, Palmer. And the second is King Crimson's debiut album.

My vote went to Script for a Jester's Tear
but I think the best debut-album of the last ten years must be:
Riverside - Out of Myself
