You'll probably like Shadow Gallery. They sound like a mixture of Pink Floyd and Dream Theater.
Meshuggah is probably too heavy and complex for your taste. But you can listen to the samples here on PA and see if you like them. I do!

Could it be that you do not like DT because of the vocals? If so, then A Pleasant Shade of Gray from Fates Warning could be worth trying. PA has some very good samples of this album.

In the Woods...? You might like them, they are very epic but with no virtuoisism what so ever (or is that one word?) just long songs that focus on the emotional and "sonic" so to say side of the genre with a male singer (a very good I might add, although definitly not for everybody) and a theatrical female singer.

Somebody mentioned ARK...they are good, though too "hair metal " for me ...jajajajja

And then there are some bands that are almoust Post rock, like Agalloch and Anathema (in some cases)... in fact Anathema could be a metal Radiohead...

and then of course, there is...Tool

Feel free to try listening to Ark!

A lot of it can be compared to Dream Theater; for example are all members virtuoses in their respective areas, however, they don't do as much instrument-masturbating show-offs, and their overall sound is more towards traditional hard rock/metal compared to dream theater. Let me also tell you that Jørn Lande is a very skilled vocalist with a very very nice voice, perfectly fit for the music made by Ark!

the only bad thing about Ark(imo) is that they split up after their 2nd album =(

If you don't like dream theater you might not enjoy Fates Warning or Shadow Gallery. They sound similar to DT, which is precisely the reason why i don't find them that great.(just a comment, i admit i haven't heard much of either band and i don't intend to offend anyone) but you do enjoy LTE so you might like them still.

These are some bands you may like, the albums i listed are generally on the lighter side of metal:
1. Anathema - 'A Fine Day To Exit' or 'Judgement' or 'Alternative 4'. They sound kinda similar to riverside, pink floyd and radiohead. I love this band.

2. Savatage - 'The Wake Of Magellan' Kinda Queen-like, very operatic, you may be shocked by the cheesiness

3. Wolverine - 'Still'. Again very similar to Riverside. Avoid their other 2 albums if you don't like growling as this one is much lighter and doesn't have growls. Have a listen to 'Taste Of Sand' if you can find it on the net anywhere.

4. Pain of Salvation - 'The Perfect Element pt.1' An amazing mix of almost every style of music in the world. Progressive-folk-power-electronica-rap-classical-metal. Highly recommended. Many parts that IMHO sound similar to LTE.

5. Opeth - 'Damnation' i love opeth. This is the only one by them without growling. Techincally it's not metal, but very good nonetheless.

6. Devin Townsend  - 'Terria' Unlike anything you've heard before. It does have a very tiny amount of growling (only a little more than riverside), but it is done in a slightly unusual fashion in that it is often used to express joy and happiness rather than hatred or anger. I love this album, but it is quite hard to get into. Try find 'Nobody Here' on the internet or something. It's beautiful, majestic, emotional and uplifting Progressive industrial metal.
