I like his work with Empire, too, except when it sounds like Yes. But yes, I get it :) |

2018: Tony Banks - Five - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrOS9uTOtsdpvMYZqpdZmGwKpzNQlgQaE
Tony Banks' Renaissance - the movie score that never was, sounding almost as good as Ennio Morricone! |

If you're still unsure about Tony Banks & Wang Chung together, then maybe you haven't heard the epic Island in the Darkness. |

I've never seen The Wicked Lady film either, but I really like the soundtrack.

When writing this I hadn't yet listened to his soundtrack albums and since then I've developed a small fondness for the soundtrack to The Wicked Lady (a film I've never seen and don't have a particular interest in seeing). The orchestral side is a letdown, just a lot of cheesy generic Hollywood stuff, but the first side is a solid set of crossover prog instrumentals that's worth hearing in its own right.

Soundtracks has always been my favorite. It finally got a remaster after being OOP for decades.
I like The Fugitive, too. It has a couple cool instrumentals. Bankstatement was not good.

A rare video of Tony Banks on lead vocals from The Fugitive album. Look out for the funny moment when Tony's keyboard nearly topples off its stand and he catches it just in time. This is Love |

Banks worked with Wang Chung? Those has beens? Did enjoy their Fire In The Twilight though. To Live and Die in L.A. was an interesting soundtrack album also. But Banks with Wang Chung? What next, Hackett with Air Supply?

There's an old proverb:- A Tony Banks album in the hand is worth three 1980's Genesis albums in the bush, or something like that.

Listening for the first time A Curious Feeling and i'm surprised. It's a better album than "...and then there were three", at least as a first impression.

I've deleted the Britney Spears video now. I don't think anyone's going to miss it.

There's also an 8-disc Tony Banks box set available, titled "Banks Vaults 1979-1995". You'd probably need to visit the bank to buy that one though as it's about £65 or $100.

It's a dubious honour to be the first to post a Britney Spears video on ProgArchives, and who would have guessed she'd turn up on a Tony Banks tribute thread.

Maybe I should give The Fugitive another listen, seeing as I only gave the album a modest 3-star rating after listening to it twice, although I'm more often accused of overrating albums.

A Curious Feeling: Some excellent moments musically, but the lyrical subject matter was far too depressing. I no longer own this album.
The Fugitive: A 5-star masterpiece - love it, love it, love it! Soundtracks: Really good, but somewhat monochromatic in a mid-1980's way. Bankstatement: Above average, but a few clinkers. Also not happy with the track sequencing. Still: Below average - a few interesting moments. Seven: Works well as a suite, but could have used a little editing.
