And like most treasures, should be buried for a very long time until they gain worth. Pottery shards in the Iron Age were simply rubbish, but several thousand years later they might have an intrinsic value beyond sh*t and sticks. Pedro may be like that.

I'd choose prog, though probably in the end jazz and classical would give more variety. But looking to my listening habits, I listen much, much more to prog.

DE just lacks courage and a smile!
He can't stand ever being wrong!
And when he's made fun of, he can't look in the mirror and smile ... we're all monkees on this bus ... except DE of course! He's an Ape!

Come on be honest with yourself... aren't his rants more interesting than mine much less anyone elses. The man has style beyond any of us mere mortals. I've think whipped the corpse of genesis so much I don't think there is much left. I've been a parody of myself.. however Pedro? a mad genius..

Don't encourage it. It's not like you can get a shot of penicillin and get rid of it.

Hi,
Just to show you all how weird and silly we are ... if this poll was done 40 years ago, classical/jazz would take the cake fast!
But the majority of folks, have lost the appreciation of MUSIC, regardless of what kind it is, and when you go around looking for "dark" this or that, or "metal" this or that, or "prog" this or that, all it tells you is that you have lost the ability to actually LISTEN to music!
Maybe one day, you will know the difference and what I said ... it's like saying that no one can have the "emotion" of playing on a violin in an orchestra, as opposed to an electric guitar in a rock band -- just because DE told you so! ... that is just so bizarre and out of order, it's not funny ... then you wonder why "musicos" think that progressive and rock music is just a pop song and crap ... because it is, and the people kissing it are still kids loving their favorite songs! It's not even about the MUSIC! Because they can not talk about it as MUSIC!

I picked jazz and classical. Over the years I have listened and re-listened to the majority of prog that I own. More than once I have wandered into the jazz and classical worlds but never really took the time to explore them thoroughly. In those instances I have enjoyed everything I heard and really want to get more into both. My 1,000 CD breakdown would probably be 750 jazz and 250 classical.

if you put it that way.. jazz and classical easily... once you get passed the first 250 prog choices (or to be generous 500 albums) ... they would all start sounding the same

Of course you will choose 1000 albums, otherwise my question would be pointless
