I'm sick of being sick!
I'm also sick of not knowing what I want out of life.

The only thing that completely sucks about fall (perhaps my favorite season) is raking. I raked my back yard yesterday, only to wake up this morning to a backyard full of leaves. Maybe I should get a leaf blower, but my garage is already stuffed with crap and I'm running out of room. If only I could erect a structure in my back yard to place lawnmowers and other such items....what do they call those things again?

My university, FIU, just lost $40 million because of the asshole who happens to be its president. How? Why? Well, a donor was gonna donate 5 million bucks each year for 4 consecutive years while the state would give $20 million too due to a policy in florida based on large donations. The president wanted the money right away, so there was a f***ing argument and the president of FIU told the super generous donor (who wants the medical school department named after him) that for getting his name in the medical department, he got it "cheap" because some donor got his name for donating 100 million in University of Miami. So the donor is like screw you.
now that FIU needed so much money with professors and knowing that less-paid and less professional graduate students will teach instead on fridays, this will affect my studies.

Walked past one of these BMW four wheel drive things on the way to work. Off road isn't in it, the alloy wheels and low profile tyres would fail at the first large stone. However the government's well thought out H&S legislation may be partly to blame. I was talking to a colleague yetserday and asked if he and his wife were considering a third child. He said no and then qualified this by saying because it is no longer legally possible to fit three small children in a normal four seater family car. The child seat laws prevent this. If they had another child his wife would have to have a large people carrier to be able to take the children out.
Well done new labour

Ho, Yus!
usually seen in their natural, all terrain, 4 wheel drive extreme environment of the school run... one driver dropping off their little precious to school, thence on to a coffee morning where they'll ernestly discuss global warming, overcrowded roads & petrol prices.

Oyster Cards work ok if you do a straightforward trip, but if you go to Notting Hill Gate via zone 1 because of those bloody line closures you have to pay double!!
also...
"'Chelsea tractors', many of which are responsible for some of the highest CO2 emissions of any cars on our roads, have to be dealt with.

I currently hate Ken Livingstone (London Mayor) for making London even less friendly to visitors. When I work in London I usually walk the two miles from Paddington station but the train was late so I decided to get the tube to work. Although it is only two stops I had to pay "Full single fare" because I didn't have an Oyster card. Wel f**k you Ken.
I always thought that Oyster cards were carried by those who use Yiddish expressions a lot.

Easy mistake to make sir - Your Grey Room is the place where people such as us who are 'of-a-certain-age' can discuss such weighty matters as would go over the heads of the younger generation of Forum members, and debate those subjects pertinent to our age, experience, knowledge and cultural values.
...and sheds!

That's the spirit guys! This is the place to get things off your chest - it doesn't have to be rational, you don't even have to back up your rants (though it can be fun to do so), just let out that bile you have festering inside! Better out than in, eh?

As a Yank, I found progchick's British telephone rant I to be quite funny. One of the things I remember about London (in addition to a lot of great things) was that finding the right number for the right place seemed almost impossible.

I hate people who think they're so much better than everyone else. They need to be brought down to size. How about a nice hacking off of their legs? That should humble them!
