Old and British not good????? Would there be prog rock without British roots??? Careful |
Not liking the roots of Prog is nothing to be careful about. I'm not a big fan of early / swing-era Jazz, and not one person has told me that I should. It's called taste.

The Clash are not, never were, and never could be considered prog.
But they are the greatest punk band ever.

Yes, I really believe that I'm a member of a "small majority" of people who like VDGG, KC and GG.
But I see your point ... to return to the topic:
I don't particularly like:
- Marillion
- Genesis
- Cynic
- Hawkwind

Genesis
I can certainly appreciate them, they're all very talented muscians, and Peter Gabriel is one of the greatest frontmen ever, but there's just something about their music that I just can't get into. There's a few songs that I love (Watcher of the Skies, Supper's Ready, The Knife), but the other songs just don't do much for me.

BTW: "aweful" ... you have to decide if you mean "awesome" or "awful". IMO Awesome is more appropriate for the above listed bands.

Of course by reading this thread you seem to be in a very small majority who likes these bands!

- VGG
- KING CRIMSON
- GENTLE GIANT
and
4. 'Post Moving Pictures' RUSH is aweful.

This my standard answer to anyone who dislikes Akerfeldt's growling.
Listen to Damnation. Not one growl on the WHOLE ALBUM.
Then tell us what you think.

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.
