Oh heck, Magma isn't THAT unlikeable. Just grab MDK and promise yourself you'll listen to the whole thing at least twice through before you pass judgement.

For a very, very long time I'd have voted Genesis -- Turn it on Again.
But I'm going to have to switch to Roundabout.

Two songs
Rush - La Villa Strangiato (studio version)
Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere (Live version)
Once upon a time it was Supper's Ready, but now I am terribly sick of it.

Attahk
^^Its there cathciest, most accessible album with the original lineup. "The Last Seven Minutes 1970-1977" is perhaps the most catchiest song; only "Kobaia" exceeds it.
However, I advise Kohntarkosz for those looking for the best overview of Magma's sound, its there most consisten album. Udu Wudu is stunning as well.
Kohntarkosz is my favorite.

Attahk was my introduction to Magma and I'd recommend it as a good starting point.
Don't know about the best song ever but my current favourite is the Cardiacs' Bellyeye.

Right now, it's "Entangled" by Genesis. Then again, I'm sure next week it will be the rock symphony "Tales from Topographic Oceans" by Yes.

That's a really hard question to answer. MDK is their classic, but lots of people start there and are totally overwhelmed and hate it, and never really grow into Magma after that bad start. There are safer options if you don't want a bad first impression. Unless you really like avant-garde music (the vocals are really different) and classical music (the compositions are extremely 20th Century Composer-ian), then don't start there. Their first two albums are very jazzy - if you like jazz, then either one might due. However, their live album (Live/Hhai Khontark - whatever it's called) is full of all their styles (the slow building volcano Zeuhl, the classical and grandiose Zeuhl, the jazzy Zeuhl, and even the spiritually uplifting Zeuhl) - that might also make a good starting place. However, again, I only recommend the Live album to start if you are comfortable with avant-garde music. The vocals are sort of hard to swallow at first. If you can get past that, they are really one of the best bands in the world. Anyways, let's not get too far off topic. Way to stand your ground, The T

My favorite would be The Sky Moves Sideways by Porcupine Tree, the most beautiful epic I've ever heard.
