Well I certainly hope that isn't the case. Though based on shallow observations I've made we may already be heading down that pipe. What makes you say that?

Without a widespread belief in the sanctity of marriage(not necessarily in a religious sense) there will be a breakdown of the family unit. The family is the basic building block of society as generally noted by socialogists and historians. You'll be hard pressed to find a society without strong family units, or similar extended units such as clans. They just don't exist. |
Just because one doesn't believe in the existance of a supreme being doesn't mean one cannot have a strong, cohesive family. I hate when religious people assume that athiests are evil people incapable of having morals/respecting their marriage/functioning in society/not destroying the world.

It'll all change when I come into power...

We are witnessing it now. Also note that in the USA, there is a serious uptightness with sex.

I was born and raised as a Catholic but now I can't get far enough away from it. But I'll agree with Equality that I'm glad there are practicing Catholics. There are far too many people with my beliefs who use them as an excuse to have a bad moral code.
But fairly recently, I've come to my own realizations that there is nothing sacred about sex or marriage. I just turned 18 and I'm planning on losing it as soon as I can.

Didn't happen yet, and won't for awhile. Marriage is a ways away.
There are still some practicing Catholics left in this world thankfully.

let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

Actually, the Frippster got The Clap in 1969.
Don't ask how I know that

I think with the general promiscuity and the novelty of the birth control pill (still less than a decade in 69), and no-one using preservatives, mostly everybody in the sexual revolution caught tyhe clap at one point or another.
As to you knowing about it, you probably read his diary notes published all over the place.
Only Steve Howe managed to catch it otherwise in 72. |
Nope, it was Sid Smith's book. So there!
|
1969?... how old was he then?... like 22?... mmm, well... I guess I can forgive him, just because he is the Fripp

Yeah!! It sounds a bit like La Fontaine's fox saying that those grapes he yearned for and couldn't catch are not ripe enough anyway!!
