Agree 100%
Kate Bush made some very progressive albums IMO. I love 'The Dreaming' album, and 'The ninth wave' suite on the 'Hounds of love' album is superb.

Of the above list, it's almost unfair to compare anyone to Haslam since she not only has one of the most God-given voice gifts in music, but was something of a "trailblazer," and thus some (if not many) of the others owe at least a small debt to her.

I agree 100%!! The only female singer of the prog scene I know who can be compared to Annie is: MAGGIE REILLEY, from Mike Oldfield.
The poll list should be bigger: I think those women have outstanding voices:
Anita Hergerland (Mike Oldfield)
Kate Bush
Clare Torry (If you want to hear her normal voice, then listen to Don't hold back from Alan Parson' Eve; also Tangerine Dream's Yellowstone Park is a mini Great Gig in the Sky!)
A special mention to :
White Willow singer, Roger Waters' vocalists: Madeleine Bell-Doreen Chanteer-Katie Kissoon, Clodagh Simmons (Mike Oldfield), Presence singer, Bobbie Watson (Comus).
Finally, non prog artist: Emma Shapplin (opera), Mylene Farmer (French pop), Barbara Streisand, Daze singer (Euro-dance), 4 strings singer (Trance+Euro-dance),

Noone in the Poll. I like Astrid van der Veen's voice, from the Ambeon album. Talk about the voice of an angel!

I also like Alannah Currie of Babble, whose voice is one of the most mesmerizing in prog. (Babble's conspicuous absence from this site continues to bother me...)
However, although she might not be prog, the best female voice in "proto-prog" has to be Grace Slick, one of the most expressive, "honest" singers in rock.

And some that are prog... ain't there...
Hey my favorite female prog voices.. are the Pink Floydettes....including Clare Tory.. and I guess you know that Toni Tenneille (The Captain & Tenneille) was a Pink Floyd back up singer for awhile.... she evidently didn't learn a lot..
