It is fascinating, and in Wonder's case he definitely could pull it off. :D Imagine Bobby Beausoleil without his Freedom Orchestra. It still would be killer (oops, that's bad taste).

And then there's the case of the one man band. A solo artist which is also a band (or like, or imitative of a band) as it's not a solo instrument.

I decided to include both "solo" artists and bands because the OP (Argo) wrote early on in response to a list with both bands and solo artists "Nice list BTW" without taking issue with the solo artists. I took that as tacit support from the one who is conducting this exercise. Had Argo said, "Nice list, but I would rather focus on bands proper" then my approach would have been different. Nice means precise (or accurate), and so I took it to precisely mean that the OP is okay with artists. :P People do use terms in different ways, and what matters is intent. Perhaps the OP was just being quite nice in a polite and tolerant way by calling it a list nice. I do think that was added more as a polite aside (it wasn't the main thrust of that post which was addressing a concern).

If it's important to the OP for whatever reason this topic was made, then I will happily give a list of ten bands proper.
