Rush no contest.  That batch was INCREDIBLE, every last one of them, and they progressed so greatly throughout the period, making such a variety of great music, but all incredibly worthy.

I love Sabbath as well, and there are some killer albums in there, but not quite at the rarified air level of Rush. And their best albums were the first two with Dio.

Yes: The Yes Album to Going For The One
Genesis: Nursery Cryme to Wind And Withering
XTC: Drums & Wires to Skylarking
Jethro Tull: Stand Up to War Child
Guided By Voices: Propeller to Mag Earwhig
Deerhoof: Reveille to Offend Maggie
King Crimson: Lizard to Discipline
Neal Morse: Testimony to Testimony 2
Spock's Beard: The Light to Snow
Kansas: Kansas to Monolith
The Beatles: Rubber Soul to Abbey Road
A good idea to look at 6 album runs of other bands....
Have to say that Genesis from 'Trespass' to 'A Trick of the Tail" takes some beating! However, have to say Spock's Beard hit a good run early on too! Zeppelin too!

After Paranoid I moved on to bands that knew how to play.

Thank God for Gilmore's guitar otherwise they would have been a very mediocre band.

I would have to agree with Dr. Wu and completely disagree with you, Mortte. Physical Graffiti represents Zeppelin at their zenith. The album has everything from full-blown prog to down-home blues, from metal to funk to dreamy acoustic. I would say only Vol. IV is better, but not by much.

Your check is in the mail......but seriously Zep's albums crush any other streak....imo.

I sometimes don't understand the adoration for Signals either. The Fountain of Lamneth outclasses everything, bar Subdivisions on Signals IMO. (Subdivisions may qualify as my overall favourite all time Rush song.....this week)

As far as the best run......please......in the end there can be only one..........
The best 6 album run...make it 7 albums.....the mighty Led Zeppelin.

No. Zeppelin made only five albums great run, from first to Houses Of Holy. You´re really thinking Masters Of Reality, Vol.4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Sapotage are not interested?

Well, I think Fly By Night is as great as Caress Of Steel, also I really like Signals much more than albums after that. Specially Hold Your Fire is really boring album.

Power Windows doesn't even belong in that group as it rates high on the Suck Meter. Uninspired and messy.
