While I feel that pink floyd is a more important group, my vote goes to Genesis for Supper's Ready.

i think i have to change my avatar.. both are incredible bands, but judging from the feeling they give me i have to vote for genesis! (and genesis i saw live, pink floyd not -.-)

Definitely Genesis. But only Gabriel era stuff. Phil just sucked the life out of that band like a nosferatu at the neck of a young child.

Tough one.. Floyd never compromised their music by selling out and going AOR as Genesis had, but then again the Genesis stuff of the early 70's was incredible, while Pink Floyd had some great moments , but were a little spotty.
   
 
My vote goes to Genesis by a hair.

Just finished listening to Floyd's entire catalog, reminded me how unbelievably ridiculously awesome they are, felt I had to help out some more...CHEATING IS BAD

In comparing the two I think of what they achieved prior to 76 (i.e. up to Lamb and WYWH).  Both produced four absolute classic studio albums in that time and some other good stuff as well.
 
Whether Floyd or Genesis were better or worse after that doesn't really matter too me. I would base my vote on their best efforts not their worst.
 
Having said that I haven't voted because I can't make up my mind.
