Hooray - I have found someone else on the same wavelength.  They are not bad albums, but the amount of talent on display, you would have thought they could have done much better!  I do not consider either of the first two albums prog, rather metal with a meager sprinkling of prog.  2007 wasn't a good year for prog.

I never heard Scarsick

I agree completely, it's awful.

I agree, but a thread like this is headed in a bad direction.

Agreed, both.

Snakes and Arrows is the best Rush album in a while, I think. That's why it got such hype. What they should do is make something in the style of Xanadu, that would be ballsy. Anyway, worst prog album of 2007... I could say a certain band that I loathe, but I wasn't expecting anything from them. The biggest disapointment seems more important, so I'll say Fear of a Blank Planet. It's a decent album, but Porcupine Tree was pretty much the band that I had the most hopes for. After Deadwing I thought they were the greatest thing ever, so FOABP was a rather large disapointment.

There's no worst prog album in 2007 for me because I only buy cds I like (just 20 this year).

The only thing I can say is that I will no longer buy albums of theses bands: Dream Theater, Glass Hammer, Marillion, The Flower Kings, The Watch, Kaipa, ...

For years I have hoped for a return of Rush to their former prog glory days I realise now that's not likely to happen so not because Snakes & Arrows is a bad CD its far from bad but because it was billed prior to its release as being a "return" to past glory I felt some what empty inside when I finally digested it ... that CD gets my vote yet not because its bad ! but because of its exaggerated sales pitch prior to it being released.

Well, as is always the case, it isn't so much the item of lowest quality as it is the biggest disappointment. It's easy to avoid a pile of s**t you smell from a mile away, but it really sucks when it's downwind and you step right in it. Because of this, I'll have to pick Scarsick. This same theory applies to films I watch. Spider-Man 3 is my pick for box office stinker of the year.

Oh come on, best comedy movie of the year. The director was tired of Spiderman when he made it. I mean come on; he beats Venom then he's like, "Good riddance." They were so referencing the Green Day song. Then he pushes his hair in front of his eyes. He was going so emo, the whole crew must have been cracking up.

Well, I guess the good thing about Scarsick is that Daniel and the band would be hard-pressed to make something worse...

well, I'm newbie, obviously, so I only heard a few prog albums, and yes, you may say because I did'ntlisten too much albums of 2007 I can't say that SC was the worst prog album of 2007.

The reason I chose SC was:
-The Labrie's voice is the same in all the tracks, I'm not saying his a bad singer, only saying that he sings the same way since Falling into Infinity
-Forsaken, Constant motion prophets of war and the ministry of lost souls, I hate'em en every single way
-Everybody was saying that SC was going to be the big DT release, the release of 07 etc. and what a surprise, it wasn't what everyone expected
-I'm good with the drums and keyboards

and, that's all I think,  I didn't hear scarsickLOL

Scarsick, though not all that good (a 6/10 in my book) is by far more refreshing, and invigorating that Systematic Chaos. At least Pain of Salvation took a chance...Stern%20Smile

Toss up between Scarsick and Systematic Chaos. Both of these albums weren't too bad in my opinion, seems liked all the albums I have listened to thus far this year were good. I'm sure in a few months I'll catch a few of the sh*tty ones.

Scarsick had some beauty in it, in my opinion. Systematic Chaos was a step in the right direction for DT, but they have become behind the rest.

the Rush album did nothing for me... but they stopped being 'prog' long ago... so they get a free pass in this thread.  The one that really stands out is.... as usual it seems... one that people seem to love.  Nice album.. but as a prog album... I have to wonder if I am saying this.. but I am.  Found Systematic Chaos more interesting from a prog fan standpoint than Fear of a Blank Planet.  That album did NOTHING for me.  Wilson could throw sh*t on the wall in this forum.. and have it hailed as the prog album of the year. LOL

but thankfully it seems... I missed Scarsick hahhah

you need to hear at least the first half, to not do so is to not live TongueLOL

hahhahah...  and I do mean to live before all the sin I am responsible for catches up to me and takes me away in a clap of thunder and lightning hahahha.

I'll check it out... like many...  I tend to stay away from sh*t I know I won't like (DT being the exception.. just because it is so much fun to hate them hahhah)

I dare say... it is the first DT album.. that has improved in my opinion upon subsequent listens.. they all have caused blood to flow from the ears on the first listen...  but for some reason.. that one is an improvement over others... and I haven't put my finger quite on why.  It isn't the singing.. Labrie is just a godawful singer.. the lyrics are just  plain stupid...  but yes.. I was able to hear Myung.. and the music itself.. simply wasn't as bad or cringeworthy as other albums were to me.  Or maybe Raff's presence in my life has made me into a big old teddy bear and DT has hit a soft spot in my heart... who knows.
